Attended Roasting 101 at the new campus, and it was incredible. I wasn't expecting the entrepreneurship encouragement and business strategy included in the course. I left Minneapolis with fresh eyes for possibilities in our existing business-- Roasting 101 is a great retreat for any culinary professional.

We recently attended Mill City Roasters’ Roasting 101 class, and it surpassed all our expectations. Our roastery is upgrading from a trusty 2kg machine to a 20kg Mill City Roaster, and we brought along two complete beginners plus our current head roaster. Despite such different levels of experience, each of us came away with valuable insights and hands-on skills that will directly impact our roasting process. The instructors did a fantastic job breaking everything down—from foundational roasting theory to practical applications. Their passion for coffee was contagious, and the interactive format kept us engaged from start to finish. We’re from Arizona, so the chilly Minnesota weather was definitely an adjustment, but layering up was more than worth it for the chance to learn and practice on Mill City’s top-notch equipment. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in the coffee game for years, Roasting 101 offers a wealth of knowledge and a real sense of community. We can’t wait to put what we learned into action on our new 20kg roaster. Huge thanks to Angie, Lauren, Bryant, Steve, and the entire Mill City team for an unforgettable experience!

Fabulous experience. Wonderful people.
Mill City's Roasting 101 class was awesome. From the get-go, they make you feel welcome and deliver on their promise to get you started with your roasting. I learned so much and really appreciate the quality of their machines.
The people (Lauren, Bryant, Angie, Steve) are kind and so clear with their explanation and their mission to educate. If you're interested in roasting at any level, it's well worth the money to get this education before jumping in. Thanks, Mill City.

I have had the pleasure of dealing with Mill City Roasters on and off for a couple of months. They put the "nice" in "Minnesota Nice". They are extraordinarily helpful, knowledgeable, and kind - always going the extra mile (or hour) in assisting me and my old machine. One can't ask for more in a company and a service team. I could not recommend them more highly.

My wife and I recently took a roasting class at Mill City Roasters, and it was one of the best investments we've made for our business! As cafe owners eager to expand our knowledge of roasting, this class was absolutely worth every penny. We came in with different levels of experience, and both of us gained so much from the course. The class was well-structured, offering a great balance of hands-on learning, sensory training, and informative sessions. We highly recommend this course—the training is comprehensive, and the team at Mill City is outstanding. A special shoutout to Lauren, Bryant, Angie, Steve, and Sam! We're excited for the next steps in our journey and our ongoing relationship with the Mill City team!

I went out to their facility in Minnesota for their training class in April 2024 and had such a great time. Made a few lifelong friends and learned a lot. We got to learn on a few different machines over a couple of days and drink some great coffee. I would highly recommend the class. After I got home, I got my Mill City 2K and started roasting right away using what I had learned. It was a really easy transition. And, since I went there and met most of the team, now when I call in for service or questions, I can put a face to the voice on the other end of the phone. And, by the way, the do answer the phone! It's not an answering service in the Philippines, I actually talk to the people I know there...every time. And the customer service has been amazing. I've had zoom meetings, emailed and talked on the phone with them many times and they have always come up with a solution quickly and efficiently. I really appreciate them and the help they have given me. It's been a great partnership.

I had a great week here for their coffee class. Met them at coffee fest in LA, and what stood out most was that they weren’t trying to “sell” they were just offering reasonable insight. Loved it!

I recently completed the Roasting 101 class. It was a fantastic experience! This class is for beginners and “well-seasoned” roasters, as well. I used to roast years ago and am now getting back into it and starting my own brand. The class served as a great reminder of the basics, as well as unlocked a ton of new information and knowledge. Excellent company and wonderful people. I look forward to doing business with them for years to come.

Three roasters later and the customer service is just as good. There’s a reason I chose Mill City Roasters. Reach out to them if you have questions.

When I was researching roasters, Mill City Roasters climbed to the top of the list, and years later, they continue to prove I made a great choice. Their roasters are extremely well built and have all the controls you want to expertly roast the best batch of coffee. They offer hands-on classes to get familiar with the roaster and with everything you’d want to know about coffee. But what really continues to impress me is their customer service. No matter what the issue is (most of the time it’s something I’ve done wrong) they are always quick to respond and help solve the root cause. I’ll be a customer for life and have already bought 2 of their rosters with plans to buy another one soon!

I recently had the chance to take the roasting 101 course from Mill City Roasters. The amount of information and experience I walked away from the class with was astounding for the short time frame. It is completely packed with information and a ton of hands on experience that promotes you to adapt to the mindset of how to develop your roast. The instructors are incredibly talented and knowledgeable. They easily brought coffee roasting from this imposing task to realizing just how much fun it can be. The class not only left me with the knowledge of how to roast but a desire to jump right back in and start my own roastery.

For me, Roasting 101 was a perfect blend of traditional instruction and hands-on learning. I came into the class with almost zero knowledge about roasting and I left feeling like I had a clear roadmap to roasting quality coffee in the future. The class contains a lot of information about how to be successful as a business as well as a coffee roaster. All of the people at Mill City are wonderful and this class was a lot of fun!

I'm currently waiting for my flight back home after spending 4 days with the Mill City Roasters team for there Roasting 101 class, and I'm thinking through what I just experienced. There is a lot that I could write but frankly most of people probably won't read a 10 minute long post. Steve Green said the most important thing to walk away with is an understanding that everything you do is either adding to or subtracting from your brand equity. He is absolutely correct. There is no steady state in anything. Attending the Roasting 101 class is without a doubt a positive move for your coffee business, whether you have never roasted before or have roasted 1000's of batches. You will walk away having learned something new about the technical aspect of roasting coffee, having a better understanding of what the journey is going to require and some really cool people to share it with, and very much inspired to succeed and do something great. Mill City says to call them. They mean it. Thank you Lauren, Bryant, Angie, Nick, and Steve for all the time this past week. You are truly some of the most authentic people I know.
