Russ started the process perfectly for us giving us confidence in his expertise to deliver a native prairie that could adjoin our wetland and keep out the invasive buckthorn and burdock in the area. The project was a large one, and the crew did a fantastic job not just meeting our plan expectations but clearly caring about the finished product and our experience, from cleaning up each day to paying close attention to our children and ensuring their safety. We look forward to the spring when things can really take off!

We have been pleased with the work done by Minnehaha Falls Landscaping on several projects. They are timely, responsive to questions, knowledgeable about their products and plantings, provide the costs of each project, and any changes or adjustments. It’s a pleasure to work with Russ and the entire Team.

I had several gardens installed by Minnehaha Falls Landscaping.
A sunny area along my fence was beautiful, blooming all summer.
Two in shade. These are a little slower, but I can see the potential for them.
Their attention to detail started with the garden preparation. They excavated the sites, and prepared the soil before planting. After everything was in the ground, a layer of mulch was applied.
Now, 1 year after completing my project, a return visit was made to assure my satisfaction of the gardens.

We hired Minnehaha Falls Landscaping (MFL) to replace our front landing and backyard patio, modify our backyard landscaping, and build a shrine for our Bodhisattva sculpture. We could not be more pleased with the result!
President and Owner, Russ Henry, designed the project elements. His vision was spot on. We are extremely happy with the layout for the landing, as well as how it now drains water toward our boulevard garden. Even more, we love how aesthetically pleasing it is.
Equally striking is our new patio. The Techo-Bloc pavers’ color and texture are attractive, and the expansion feels right. The landscape modifications are much more appropriate for our backyard. Further, MFL’s Project Manager, Brian Galicia, made several suggestions as the project unfolded that nicely pulled things together. And then, there is the shrine for our Bodhisattva sculpture.
What a joy! The EW ledgestone used for the Bodhisattva sculpture perfectly supports this fine art piece, which has been in our family for many years. We are truly delighted that it finally has a special place of honor. The shrine is a finishing touch that has transformed our backyard landscape. We are very grateful.
Finally, we want to recognize the MFL crew, each of whom worked steadily and hard while on site. Every encounter we had with them was friendly. They were very courteous and always took care to clean things up at the end of the day. We give a wholehearted shout out to Brian, the project manager. Throughout the entire project, he was attentive to our concerns, patient, thorough, and great with the other crew members.
We look forward to working with MFL next season as we continue to turn our property into a healthy landscape.

The Grand Condominiums Landscape Committee in St Louis Park has been working with Russ Henry at Minnehaha Falls Landscaping since September 2023 as our owner’s association wanted to learn about a sustainable approach to our grounds that would be easier to maintain while improving the exterior curb appeal. We have been challenged for years with maintaining turf next to our sidewalks that are annually smothered in salt.
Russ gave us a great education on healthy soil and how by eliminating the turf/grass, enriching our soil, and planting hearty ground cover varieties, we would not only eliminate the need for our mowing contract, but could reduce water use and eliminate use of fertilizers.
Russ and his team kept in contact during the process so we knew when and what was happening. Every member of his crew was polite and respectful while working diligently. They cleaned up from their work daily.
Our results are unbelievable – beautiful and sustainable. We have received many positive comments from our residents and will let the pictures of our butterfly garden, courtyard, and front entry speak for all of us.
For multi-family (or single family) residential properties that want to reduce use of chemicals and lower maintenance, we highly recommend Minnehaha Falls Landscaping.

Great initial consultation and very informative! Provided many resources to learn about bee gardens and beyond on our own time as well. Highly recommend even just a consult. Well worth it. We decided to do bee gardens in our front yard.
The team took the time to answer many questions at the time of the consultation and throughout the entire process! Very knowledgeable and kind staff. Worked within our budget and no hidden costs.
Timelines were a bit fuzzy until the week of the project. We didn't mind waiting but would have appreciated quick updates from someone about timelines and delays during the waiting period between our down payment and starting the project.
The project once started, went really well (all in one day) and we also received after care instructions.
It was apparent they took time and care to pick and layout nice plants! And met with us for final approval before being put in the ground.
We installed rabbit fencing ourselves but they also offered to do it for us. They happily gave us great suggestions for fencing to purchase!
The result of our new bee gardens already look wonderful even though the plants are small and there is much to fill in over the next year or two! The mulch and tea inoculation is cool.
We know they did their best and we are grateful for small businesses like MFL having integrity and doing good work!!

We recently hired Minnehaha Falls Landscaping to install and expand our front yard gardens. We are very pleased with the results! Russ was attentive to our needs and worked with us to design the layout. His recommendations have us excited for the look it will give our yard as an inviting addition to the neighborhood as the plants mature. The work crews prepping the ground and planting were on time, friendly, and efficient. Consider them a go-to option for your project.

They fixed an area of our front yard that had been severely damaged by a sump pump discharge line. They reworked the area and put in a seed blanket. They also installed a flow area of rock to keep sump pump discharge from further eroding the soil. They also placed about 5 yards of mulch in our backyard and made it much more presentable. The workers were conscientious, efficient, quiet and cleaned up really well when done. Glad we picked them for our work and will go back to them for anything in the future.

The education and encouragement that Russ provided during a consultation session alleviated my overwhelm and indecision with planning a pollinator habitat in my yard. Russ provided a simple yet thorough plan for each step along with design ideas and recommendations according to my preferences. Russ’s insight and recommendations for materials and plants likely saved much frustration and potential over spending on unsuccessful design. Highly recommend!

A few years ago we selected Minnehaha Falls Landscaping to convert our traditional grass lawn over to a bee lawn mix, while also creating several native perennial pollinator gardens and installing several new native trees. In addition to the lawn and garden work, we also needed an old concrete sidewalk broken up, a paver patio area added, and we wanted a stepper stone walkway around the side of our home. It was a fairly large project.
Minnehaha Falls Landscaping has several qualities that really stood out to us. One of the primary reasons we chose them was their focus and depth of knowledge and expertise on soil health, native plants, and pollinators. Minnehaha Falls Landscaping was also very responsive thru the entire project, and that has maintained years later as well. They are also full service and employ their entire crew of wonderful people. There is a lot to love here.
That soil! All the plants grow with such incredible enthusiasm! The soil work Russ and his team did is amazing. Every year our plants come up taller, denser, and faster growing than other gardens I see, especially when it gets dry out. The last 2 summers have been really dry, and our native plants are able to power thru it no problem, with their deeper roots and native adaptations. Our yard looks amazing and green all summer longs even when then neighborhood lawns turns brown.
Years later, we couldn’t be happier with our investment! All of the hardscape has held incredibly well and still looks great. Our yard has become a sanctuary for all sorts of birds, butterflies, and other pollinators. In our small city lot, we now get many nesting birds in the trees, and the usual city sounds of night are now drowned out by crickets and other night bugs singing away like you’re in a state park.

We have met with Minnehaha Falls Landscaping to create a bee lawn. Leah has been superbly knowledgeable and creative, and yet realistic with a plan we can manage as Seniors and integrate with our current plantings. We have not yet finalized plans, but know we are on the right track - doable and affordable! Thank you, Leah!
