I am a gold elite member with Marriott Bonvoy. My wife and I were in town visiting family, not on vacation or here for fun so we were on a budget. I used my points that I had earned by staying at Marriott to cover our 3 night stay. Upon arriving at the front desk to check in, the clerk told me that there would be a $300 “incidental deposit” this was basically our entire budget that we had for food and necessities while in town. I told him that wasn’t okay with me and if there was any way to bypass that ridiculous amount. He said the best he could do was lower it to $200..there was no mention of this fee anywhere on the Marriott app. I even called Marriott customer service immediately after and complained to them letting them know we have been left broke because of this hidden fee. They said that is not under their control and that the incidental fee is controlled by the property. So I’m guessing Marriott somehow does not have control over how much their own hotel charges people? To marketers even worse, we went to grab a drink at the hotel bar a couple nights later. I opened a tab, but was again suprised by a hidden fee. This time it was $50 for simply using a card to pay..this was our last $50 that we had and all we had was one beer each. Needless to say this experience had ruined our trip and going forward I will never stay at a hotel again. We will book an air bnb where you pay upfront and don’t have to worry about “incidentals” or “convenience fees”. Also, the aesthetic is so shallow it’s ridiculous, there’s a “record room that’s full of records and a record player that doesn’t even work. The rooms are the smallest I’ve ever stayed in and feel depressing and cramped to stay in. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking to have a good time in Minneapolis.Rooms: The rooms are awful. Feels like a cheap hookup hotel. Not somewhere you would want to stay at for more than a single night, if that.

Moxy Minneapolis Uptown is located about a 30-minute drive from the airport, MSP. Situated in the up and coming part of Minneapolis and next door to restaurants and gastropubs, all within a block or two. The hotel looks like Moxy does, and the ground floor is all about social activities and work, with the bar as a centrepiece. In the basement is the gym, small but with treadmills, crosstrainer, and a bike as well as dumbbells and a punching bag. The rooms are nice and well-planned, if you want something special, try the junior suites, they are fabulous! The main drawback is that there is no food, which is okay for lunch and dinner, but an inconvenience for breakfast as there is nothing close early in the morning. Otherwise, it's an excellent choice

So I guess if you wanna stay in a hotel room that is basically the size of a closet then this is the hotel for you. It was clean and there’s a nice bathroom. Zero parking and it’s a pretty shady area of Minneapolis. I’m expecting a smashed window in my car tomorrow morning. This is a joke - I highly recommend you stay somewhere else.

Overall the hotel was great. Good location, comfortable, clean. Only issues I had with it was there's no fan in the bathroom, the shower sprayer was broken which meant only getting water from the above waterfall nozzle. And the lobby smelled SO strongly of cologne the 3 days and nights we were there, so strong it could be smelled before you even walked into the building. We were given drink tickets for the bar when we arrived that we never used because the smell gave me a migraine so we basically held our breath when we walked in until we got into the elevator. Besides that it was a good hotel and stay

My wife and I stayed here last year. We loved it, it has the best spelling hotel I have ever been in. The location is a little tough, and traffic gets pretty bad. Outside of that we loved it.

Went back to Minneapolis to visit my family just before Christmas. The Moxy Uptown is a Marriott hotel and one of the few hotels in Uptown. It's easy to get to from the airport and has an attached parking garage which I believe is free however I didn't have a rental so I am not 100% sure. I would call it a self-serve hotel but not a cheap hotel. The front desk is at the bar which is very popular in Uptown located right when you walk in the hotel. There was a huge party going on there when I got in so incredibly loud and I was concerned my room would be loud but it wasn't. The lobby is very hip and I posted pictures of it.It's a five-story hotel and I had a great view of Uptown from the fifth floor. The room was smaller than I expected, it reminded me of a European hotel with a bed lower to the ground. The only picture I have of the room is the guitar that was on the wall which my daughter thought was really cool. It didn't have a closet, it had hooks on the wall but they provided hangers for the hooks and the steamer instead of an iron which I like much better. The bed was comfortable and it had a big screen TV although I didn't watch much. The bathroom was really nice with a huge walk in shower but no tub. If you wanted maid service you had to request it daily. The big disadvantage of the room is it does not have a refrigerator so if you have any food from a restaurant there's nowhere to put it.They have 24/HR self service food that is really snacks and drinks but at a very low cost and are healthy. They do have free coffee. There is not a restaurant in hotel but tons really close by.Would I go back there?Yes, for the location primarily. You just can't beat the location. The staff was very nice and checking in and out was a breeze. I would get a bigger room next time.Walkability: You don't need a car to be here at this hotel I got around fine with an Uber and the rest is easy to walk.

I didn't enjoy staying here 1. Bathroom door didn't lock, it's a barn door. 2. No parking. 3. No food or breakfast, just coffee. 4. Only order can be placed from a menu. 5. No space. 6. View boring in middle of other stores or apartments. List goes on. I missed my Wyndom hotels.Food & drinks: Restaurants and food near.

This is the COOLEST hotel in uptown! The vibe is amazing, you walk in to a sitting area, a ping pong table, and fooseball! To the left is your check in area, with a FULL bar!! The staff here is phenomenal, extremely kind and service oriented. Saul (the best front desk agent ever) is so attentive, funny and informative. He’ll help you find anything you could hope to do in Minneapolis. Megan the bartender knows how to pour a drink that’s worth the money. The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking for a /different/ hotel experience. Get ready to be happily surprised by what you find, it just might be your go to hotel in Minneapolis after you stay once!!Walkability: You have almost all of uptown within walking distance. Check out volsteads for a unique speakeasy experience.
