Looking for a new place closer to home, my regular salon closed during the pandemic. Ive been to Sparrow 3 times. First time it was 30 bucks for haircut with Kim. I warned her not to use too much styling product as my hair is very fine. Yep, she could see that and not to worry. I left there, went home and washed the goop out of my hair that she put too much of. Haircut was ok, for 30 bucks its what you can expect. Second time, I reminded her about my fine hair, and to lighten up on the product. Yep, yep, yep, she knows all about that. She was rushed, (granted I was 10 minutes late). Quickest haircut ever and left with crooked super short bangs, looking like I was the first one to fall asleep at the party. 35 bucks this time This was my birthday haircut, so that was a bummer for the pictures. My 3rd time, I go back, reminded her about too much product. I was early, she was running late, no big deal for me. She tells me she hurt her shoulder and its effecting her job, she's seeing a doctor for it. She gobs on the styling creme, and I tell her that's enough no more. Ya ya ya, she knows. She talked nonstop to her colleague, her next appt and tried to engage me in too much chit chat. I prefer the person cutting my hair to keep her focus on the scissors, not looking around the room chatting it up while clipping mt hair! Yes, she had the scissors engaged while Not Looking!! She got the blow dryer out and started to dry my hair using her fingers. It was getting frizzy, I told her I wanted a smooth look. She took another glob of product and put it thru my hair to smooth it out, I tried to stop her, it was too late. I demonstrated how I wanted my hair blown out. She ignored me. She was more concerned with the next appt waiting on her. She takes my cape off, my hair still wet! And tells me how great it looks. Starts sweeping up and apologizing to her next appointment. She says 40 dollars. I ask why 40? And remind her the 1st was 30, 2nd was 35, now 40? She mumbled something about rent, and for a wash, cut and style, its 40. Leaving with wet hair is not my idea of a style!! It was awful. Went home and washed the goop out of my hair, styled it, and texted her I was disappointed. No response. Maybe this will get her attention. Kim is a very nice person and I'm not happy to write this. Can't remember ever walking out of a salon with wet hair and being charged for a 'style'. You know the awesome feeling walking out of your salon after a great cut and style?! Feels great, right?. Not at this place. Im lucky to have tracked down my regular stylist. He is more expensive. He goes into a silent trance while he cuts my hair to perfection. No talking, no moving, no gobs of heavy product. And a nice smooth blow out! He is well worth the extra money. I've had much better experiences at the walk in chain salons, than Sparrow.
