Not a functioning commercial hotel.

The University Inn has been notified several times over the last 3 months about their tattered American flag and they have done nothing about it. The condition of the flag is absolutely appalling and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Other than the place being a little dated, I was very pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. The room I was in had a kitchenette, a mid sized refrigerator, comfortable be and was very clean. I love the location right on the U of M campus next to the frat houses.

This hotel had a lot of issues. First off, when we arrived no one was at the front. There was a sign that said they stepped away so please call a number for them to return, well we called and nothing. So we waited about 10 min until someone finally showed up. You can tell these use to be dorm rooms previously which is fine. The rooms have a small little kitchenette which was nice. But immediately when we got in our room, it stunk. It smelled like a hockey gym bag. The tv remote did not work and the air conditioners worked only slightly. Then 20 min after getting settled in, the front desk guy comes to our room to tell us he forgot to get a card for incidentals. It was a bit weird to come to the room and unprofessional. Overall, I will never stay here again and would never recommend it to anyone.

Yes, it's a repurposed dorm. There is no elevator, breakfast etc. But, it's clean, quiet, has free parking and is in a great location. 5 minute drive to Vikings stadium. If I ever came back to this icebox hellscape of a city, I'd stay here again. Just know you are just getting room and a parking space, nothing at all else.
