I was honestly expecting more from this place, especially with the cost. The food itself was good, but nothing crazy. We got 2 pizzas and 2 drinks and it was over $100 which I think is absolutely wild for lunch. The service was unfortunately less than average. The waitress was kind of rude and we waited a long time to get water refilled because our waitress was no where to be found. When I asked for a box for my leftovers it came back wrapped in tin foil which I thought was unusual. Not necessarily a bad thing and it’s very possibly I’m in the wrong about that, just thought it would be more high end than tin foil? I’m really not the type of person to complain about service but with prices so high I would have expected amazing service. Some pros were the atmosphere and the host was very kind.

Ok, this place is awesome. Usually I find it difficult to go to a place with both stellar food and atmosphere, but they’ve done it. Would DEFINITELY eat here again.

I hope you’re happy Young Joni. Now I don’t want food at any other restaurant. And to top it off, if it’s not Brandon serving it’s just not going to be worth it.Amazing.The Burrata was the favorite, but like, not by much. It was all just so good!

Was once a great all round food experience…I’ll break it up by sectionFOOD:The food is always good - an elevated pizza experience. We had the Tavern pizza, pickled vegetable relish and sweet potato appetizers. The appetizers were wonderful - unique, spicy, smoky delights - enough to split. Pizza was, as usual, very good.ATMOSPHERE:It’s a large busy room, but not overly loud - you can have a conversation with your dinner companions, and there is table lighting so you can review the menu.SERVICE:Ms. Kim - you’ve got some work to do here. We’ve been here 10+ times - this had to be the worst service experience. Lots of staff standing around chitchatting away - seemed a bit overstaffed. Couldn’t get the staff’s attention to order a drink nor pay the bill. One was actually reading some paper at the bar.The 21% service charge is included - that’s well displayed.

What is it with businesses that think adding an automatic 21% tip is acceptable?? TIPPING SHOULD BE OPTIONAL FOR THE CUSTOMERS TO DECIDE, NOT THE BUSINESS. I understand during Covid it was needed but, not now!

There's a reason this place is often booked solid! I love their creative pizza offerings and the fun & relaxed atmosphere. The gluten free crust is excellent, probably the best I have had in the city so far. We tried the Korean BBQ and the My Sha-roni. Both excellent. Will definitely go again!

Young Joni has been my favorite pizza place in the Twin Cities since I moved here. I rarely eat out (I am a student) and have been there 5 times since 2021 when I first moved here. I just went last week for dinner, and felt as if something had changed in the food and service so I am not sure if it was an off night or whether it is a new trend.1. I ordered kombucha. It came with ice, filled to the top of the glass. I asked for no ice because super cold drinks irritate my throat, and the glass came back half full, as if the server had just scooped the ice out. It might always come served that way when you order no ice, but made me feel a little cheated. The kombucha was very good - not too sweet like commercial kombuchas.2. We ordered the Korean BBQ pizza which was delicious as always, aside from the crust was very burned to the point of being black. I am wondering if next time we could request a less well-done crust or if the nature of the oven makes the deep char unavoidable. I also tried the gluten-free crust for the first time and thought it tasted a bit "gummy". Sometimes too much xanthan or guar gum is used in GF baking which makes the dough easier to work with but compromises taste. I am wondering if that's what happened here. It wasn't overdone though which was much appreciated.3. My favorite pizza, the broccolini almond lemon one, was removed from the menu. I understand this might due to the ingredients being out of season, but was still a little disappointed. The hostesses were very nice to deal with as was our server. The place was absolutely packed, so I can understand if the issues stemmed from the staff being slammed. I will likely be back in a couple months after trying some other pizza restaurants, and will update this review accordingly.

Young Joni is a celebrated restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis that stands out for its unique blend of Korean flavors with a contemporary American twist, particularly noted for its wood-fired cooking techniques. The ambiance of Young Joni is both cozy and sophisticated, featuring a warm, inviting space with a hidden back bar that adds an element of surprise and exclusivity to the dining experience. The menu at Young Joni is crafted by the talented Chef Ann Kim, whose culinary prowess has been recognized with several awards, including a James Beard Award. The restaurant's dishes are inventive and beautifully presented, with the pizzas being a standout feature. These aren't your typical pizzas; they come with unique toppings like Korean BBQ and fermented chili beans, each adding a burst of flavor that complements the smoky, charred crust beautifully.Beyond pizza, the menu also features a variety of small plates, like the Korean beef short ribs and the cauliflower with gochujang sauce, which are perfect for sharing and exploring different flavors. The cocktail menu is equally impressive, offering creative concoctions that are perfect for pairing with the bold flavors of the dishes.Young Joni's commitment to quality and its fusion of flavors make it a culinary gem in Minneapolis. It’s an ideal spot for those who appreciate thoughtful, flavor-packed dishes served in a stylish yet comfortable setting.

If you love pizza, or honestly just food in general please consider coming here. It's one of my very favorite places as the food is always amazing. The pictures are from their Easter brunch this year. They served their take on traditional Easter fare (think Ham, salad, etc) and also offered pizza from their menu. Our drinks were delicious, the food wonderful and the staff is always such a delight too. They have a little photo booth in the back as well so don't miss out on that little gem!

Absolutely amazing. Our server was very kind and attentive. The food was out of this world. We especially loved the wings, burrata, and the parisienne

I asked to keep the bones from my ribs to use in a stock and everyone was cool about it. Didn't make me out to be the weird bone-guy I was being.Cat got into the box when we got home so I didn't end up getting to use em, but that's nobody's fault but my own
