Based on gift delivery only: My friend sent me some adorable Mexican tin ornaments that the store shipped to me, wrapped cutely and safely first class mail in a bubble mailer with the price crossed off the receipt and a nice note from my friend so I didn't have to wonder who sent it. I think the store might be closed right now due to Covid, but if they are handling all their gifts the way they handled mine, this is a great place to consider your holiday or other shopping for friends who like fun, cute Mexican folk art!

Go here immediately if you are at all into latin american art & craft. I work in a job where we often have to go out trend hunting (looking for cool, inspirational items). We were driving around south minneapolis and as we drove past this house my coworker did the equivalent of screeching to a stop and pulling over upon seeing the window display (except it was more like almost turning the wrong way down a one way street trying to go around the block to park in front of the store.) The proprietor has a great eye for items - there were some amazing dia de los muertos items (paper-mache skeletons, dog skeletons, dioramas) - I walked out with a shadow box of a little scene of skeletons in a classroom. There were also beautiful milagros items - carved wood crosses and hearts covered in metallic charms. We also saw some gorgeous paper-flower crowns (the kinds of crowns I would dream about as a 9 year old). Seriously worth a visit - everything is reasonably priced and the collection is fun & inspiring.

Dia de los Muertos, Frida, and more. Oh my! Reminds me of the store I love in Encinitas, CA ( although it has a bit more "bare bones" art-gallery feel rather than kitchy California beach vibe which makes sense considering we're in MN. There didn't seem to be an overwhelming amount of product but that's probably a smart move on the owner's part until the place has had some time to build up a clientele. What they had I liked and it seems like the only place in town to find Mexican folk art. Worth checking out.
