Actually, one star is too much. There is not one good thing I can say about this 'florist.' Buyer beware.
*I ordered flowers for a wedding reception which is a very special occassion. I told the person who took the order what I wanted and referenced a photo on the Hallstrom website. The photo showed large fat roses with a few accent flowers tucked in. The flowers in the illustration were not in a vase but laying freely as if waiting to be put into a bouquet.
*The person I spoke with told me they get fresh flowers in all the time and would be getting fresh flowers in on Friday, the day of the wedding.
*As far as what floral design wanted I told the person taking the order that I like to let the arranger use their discretion because they know design and also what flowers available are the freshest and in best form. I prepaid my order and arranged to pick the flowers on the morning of the wedding which was a couple days away.
*The day of the wedding I went to pick up the flowers. When I arrived at the shop to pick up the flowers I was met by surprise and disbelief. The staff present didn't know who I was or what I was there for. In fact, I was told they didn't have my order. They told me they had no record of my calling in an order.
*Since I prepaid with a credit card I reminded them my information should be in the computer.
* Rather than being polite and accommodating, the staff-- which included the owner-- was rude and condescending. With the exception of one young lady , everyone there acted like I was bothering them by showing up.
* It was getting late and this was the only flower place I knew of in Red Wing so I waited for them to get their act together. The young woman trying to find the order in the computer had an obvious attitude, and as it turned out she was the one who took the original order!
She eventually found my order in the computer and once it was confirmed that I had indeed made an order, the owner put the bouquet together herself.
First off, there weren't many flowers to choose from ---almost no roses, which of course are the most important flowers. The bouquet which I paid eighty dollars for was mostly filler flowers almost carelessly arranged by a woman who was obviously in a hurry. After poking in three stems of stock the owner pronounced : "that's seventy five dollars worth there."
* When I had the time to take a close look at them I noticed all the flowers with the exception of the three stock and lisianthus were browned and dried on the edges. The two roses were obviously old , the spray of dyed baby breath like flowers were completely dried up. Even the greens were in bad shape, droopy and wilted.
* Here is the reason why I would give this business zero stars if I had the choice: There is no way this florist/business owner was not aware of the poor quality /condition of all these flowers.
She used them anyway and had no problem charging me eighty dollars and some change for them. This is dishonesty at work here and it was on top of them 'losing my order, on top of the general bad attitude and rudeness displayed by the staff and most especially, the owner.

Mixed Experience at Hallsrom's
The visit this time around left me with mixed feelings. While ordering flowers for my uncle's funeral, the experience wasn't as friendly or efficient as before. Having to choose from a catalog instead of hand picking flowers as i did last time. When arrived at funeral home the arrangements appeared poorly put together and messy. However, the silver lining was the incredible ice cream waffle cones enjoyed before leaving the shop. Despite the floral disappointment, the ice cream was a delightful surprise.

I chose Hallstrom's Florist to purchase some cut flowers for my nextdoor neighbor's 75th birthday on Dec 18. She sent me a photo yesterday (Dec 29th) commenting on how she has NEVER had a bouquet last so beautifully! Well done Hallstrom's! A "Quality Product", and friendly courteous service as well!! 5 Stars!

My husband and I enjoyed this cute little shop we went for ice cream and it was the best we’ve had, hands down!! They also had a great selection of flowers and gifts. employees were helpful & answered any questions we had. We will be returning!

We ordered birthday flowers for a friend in Red Wing but put the wrong address on the order. Diane instead of just leaving the flowers on the front porch she realized it was the wrong address and called me and went out of her way to find the right address. Best customer service ever and beautiful flowers too.

The one good thing was the workers at Hallstrom’s were very sweet, however, the price didn’t match the flowers. I was very surprised upon seeing them. The receiver of the flowers asked me if they were gas station flowers. I expected $45 flowers to be more impressive than what I received. I will not be buying from this company again.
