“Unlike most dollar trees I've been to this one has friendly staff who know where the product is and keep the shelves stocked. I've been to many others who have stuff scattered all over. This one is an anomaly and well managed. There are low income apartments a few blocks away so I'm sure it's not an easy store to keep up. They are unfortunately short staffed like everyone but they are always busy and yet find a way to keep shelves stocked and put items back where they belong. Also they aren't afraid to open another register if lines get long. Other stores just let the one person slowly check people out while the other employees talk about customers. So this is one dollar tree I highly recommend. Don't let the dirty exterior fool you. They did have a vacant store for years next to them so trash would float to their lot. The only spot room for improvement is needed is that exterior. It's always littered with trash. This is their own doing tho. Well maybe. The outside trash can was gone one day when I stopped in. This was about 2yrs ago. Since then the trash in the lot started. It might have been stolen or destroyed or they were sick of emptying it. It always had peoples big house bag garbage in it. So I could see the owner or management at the time take it away. Well then people just throw their garbage outside which is sad. I don't think it is the same manager now as it was when the outside garbage disappeared. I'll maybe ask the next time I'm there and see the manager. She's a nice lady. And if you need a job I believe they pay competitively and probably don't expect much from seeing other stores! After hrs rates do apply if call is after 8pm or before 6am. If I can fix it on the side of the road I will. If I need to move it I can. If you want to leave the vehicle with me and get a ride home or to a hotel I can arrange an employee to come with and get you where you'd like to go! No matter the distance. We've shuttled people back home to Iowa. It isn't cheap but we can get you where you need to be anywhere in the USA. Your vehicle can also be brought to wherever you'd like in the USA! “Marie is their best worker, most friendly and most helpful. I always look forward to seeing her spunky little self. Always see her so busy, but I know if I need help she will stop what she is doing to help me out. If I ask what their specials or sales are she very informative. This storm does seem to struggle with keeping up on their stocking of shelves, and keeping bathroom's clean. Could be a problem like to many new employees and maybe not being trained in right or maybe just don't like taking pride in their jobs. I think they all could take a few pointers from that lovely gal Marie, she really seems to enjoy her job and gives this place a friendly store to shop at. I haven't seen a lot of her lately, I hope she ok. I will still continue to shop here, always hoping to see Marie. She's definitely a keeper. I don't think this place would make it with our her. I also don't think I would continue to shop here if I knew she didn't work here anymore, she's why I chose to shop here instead of Walmart or other stores sometimes. Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
