Midway Used & Rare Books is a bookstore in St. Paul described as a true Twin Cities gem and a bibliophile's haven. It is an alright bookstore where one could easily spend the day. The store uses every inch of floor and shelf space, including the basement, and is brimming with books everywhere. It is the type of store you can spend some time getting lost in, offering a vast and brilliant inventory. The incredible selection includes a lot of antique and old rare books, a great number of old pulp novels and magazines, and an outstanding comic book selection with literally 1000's of comics and lots of back issues. There is a good selection in all topic areas and shelves of other cool books. While books are sometimes a little pricey, prices are also noted as very reasonable and more than reasonable. The staff may at times be a bit on the gruff side, which is considered fairly typical. They are active in acquiring new stock, and customers can always find something new, needed, or fascinating. However, they sometimes lock their doors, requiring a knock to get in, which can seem a little less friendly. Overall, it is a grand discovery and a lot of fun, guaranteeing adventures to read that fill the imagination. It is a place to give yourself a treat and some time, and you won't be sorry.
3 floors of books. Discounted ones in the basement. Paperbacks are half the original price. Hardbacks are marked in pencil inside the front. Good selection of scifi, horror, romance, scholarly religion (Classics of Western Spirituality), poetry, fiction. Parking behind store.

They have a good science fiction section and I felt the staff was helpful both the young fellow and the older owner.
You have to ring a bell and shelve your backpack but given the area, that is pretty reasonable.
