Phalen Regional Park is an outstanding city park with plenty of trails, a beautiful lake, picnic areas, a playground, and a beach with kayaks and paddle boards. It is a great place for a walk, a dip, or fishing. The park is mostly known for its traditional Chinese pavilion and arch, a beautiful pagoda built to commemorate a sister city relationship. The pavilion is well-setup for events. While parking can be a problem at events and some note the lack of security, it is considered a wonderful, underrated spot with nice rolling hills, impressive homes, and year-round beauty.
My go to place for a walk. Sunrise or sunset, you're guaranteed a beautiful view all around the lake. Kayak and canoe rentals available at the beach where there's a splash pad too. The park area has lost of picnic tables with plenty of space in between.
