Subtext Books is a cozy and personal neighborhood bookstore in the Twin Cities, considered by many to be the best. It is a fun place with lots of charm, described as a lively little escape. The shop offers a great collection of mostly new books, with a nice little used corner, plus fun zines, handmade magnetic bookmarks, and a poetry dispenser. The staff is exceptionally kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and delightful, providing fantastic customer service and excellent recommendations. Handwritten notes on the shelves from customers and staff add a personal touch. The store hosts events like author readings and signings. Staff can order books, and while area parking is pay-to-park, it is plentiful on non-sports days.

Fun place! Mostly new books, but they had a nice little used corner. I especially loved the poetry dispenser! There were also some fun zines and handmade magnetic bookmarks.
