About Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge
Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge offers stunning wildlife experiences and beautiful scenery, appealing especially to bird watchers. Visitors enjoy a seven-mile drive through diverse landscapes of wetlands, trees, and prairie. Short walking paths allow for leisurely exploration, although there are no flushable restrooms—only basic facilities provided. Dog owners are encouraged to keep their pets on a short leash to ensure safety and compliance with rules. While there are no playgrounds or picnic areas, updated tables are available near an eagle's nest. The refuge is perfect for nature lovers, with seasonal visits revealing different sights, including impressive views of Sandhill Cranes. Overall, it provides a peaceful escape into nature.
When the lupines are on bloom in end of May it is the best places to hike and do the 3 mile drive.

An absolutely beautiful scenic drive, I've been coming here since I was a kid and I'm a young adult now, and I was so glad to see that the binoculars are still set up at different points around the drive. Come here and experience it on a nice day and you won't be disappointed!

We spent a few hours in the area around Oak Savanna Learning Center enjoying the trails and trumpet swans. The refuge has nearly 2 miles of crushed granite trails that were easily navigable for a power wheelchair and brought beautiful sights that are often difficult to get to with limited mobility.
