“It’s a nice place..great location. Our plans had a slight change..and Nathan the manager was very accommodating. Service like he displayed will keep me coming back to the Hilton brand. He deserves 2 thumbs up and kudos for a job well done. Customer service at its finest.”
“Stayed here for a week for a conference. It was a good overall experience, but with a few issues.
The hotel is interesting. It's college-themed, and for this location, reception is decorated with books around it. I don't know if that's a nod to Oxford's literary status (being the home of Faulkner), but it was definitely nice. The key cards look like student IDs. That was a little creepy, but it keeps with the collegiate theme.
The room was equally nice. Slightly old-fashioned with a southern feel (heavy drapes, chandelier, old-fashioned style furniture, and an old-school desk telephone to call reception).
The staff are extremely friendly (with one exception), and they are very helpful. I really enjoyed interacting with them - especially the woman who was handling the catering for our event. I can't sing her praises enough.
We met in the meeting rooms, and the hotel fed us during our stay. The meeting room was plenty spacious, and when we had an unexpected leak in the room, management was able to move us to another location while they handled the problem. The food was REALLY good, and they provided a decent variety over the days we were there.
The cons:
* My room had a very distinct urine odor, most likely pet urine. I waited to mention it because I was so tired that first evening that all I wanted to do was eat and get some sleep. I asked staff to put the room down for a deep cleaning, because that odor was rough when you walked in the door (but after a few minutes in the room, it wasn't very noticeable -- to the point I'd forget about that issue until I left the room and came back).
* Stayed on the 4th floor. I know it's the dead of a hot Mississippi summer, but that air conditioner was struggling. The room was a decent temperature, but it never felt crisp -- it was always humid in there.
* The mattress was uncomfortably hard - but I think that's a Hilton thing, as I've experienced that at other Hilton properties.
* Made a trip to the rooftop bar since it was on my floor. It was close to last call and the place wasn't busy, but it took way too long for the bartender to stop chatting with his friend to notice me and come help. That's a minor thing, but it grated my nerves a bit.
Overall, it was a good experience, and I would definitely give it another try (but definitely a different room this time)”
“It is a small motel but very warm the person at the front desk was very helpful very polite I had the greatest room real clean really warm because it was cold weather for the price you can't beat that”
“Great location next to campus and square! The sales ladies Kelsey and Kristin are always so cheerful and helpful when I call with questions for a block of rooms and/or rental spaces.”
“We can’t say enough good things about our experience at The Oliver Hotel. During Winter Storm Fern, they went above and beyond by dramatically reducing their rates to support the linemen who were in town working long hours to restore power. That kind of generosity does not go unnoticed.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating from start to finish. On short notice, they welcomed a large crew of ours into the restaurant and delivered an outstanding dining experience — the food and service were both top-notch.
And the hidden speakeasy was such a fun little surprise.
Thank you to The Oliver Hotel and team for your hospitality, support, and genuine appreciation for the crews serving the community. We’d highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in Oxford”
