I had to rent a car for a work trip to Arkansas, usually I book through Avis but for some reason I accidentally booked through Hertz on our company portal... at JLN Hertz and Avis are next together. When I booked I put I would pick it up at 4pm, but later the day I booked I found out I actually needed to get it at 11:30AM so I could get down to Ft. Smith by 3PM. I called and the person I spoke with pretty much was useless and told me to call back the next day.
I called back Tuesday and pretty sure was the same guy, seemed genuinely disinterested, kept cutting in and out saying he was outside. I asked him again it was okay if I come at 11:30AM tomorrow (Wednesday) to pickup the car. He was like yeah yeah that's fine.
Come today, I show up at 11:30AM and nobody at the desk, lights are off. Stood there for like 15 minutes, called and it just rang to the phone sitting on the desk right in front of me. I asked the guy at Avis right next to them if anyone was there and he said nope, nobody has been there all day.
The guy at Avis recognized me because as I said, in the past I always booked with them and this time mistakenly booked with Hertz, so on the spot Jessie at Avis got me a rental car through them. I will make sure to never make that mistake again when booking a rental car and make sure I have Avis selected.

My first time renting a vehicle. I reserved a truck 6 weeks in advance for my daughters wedding on the 4th of July. I flew into Joplin airport and find where they are located. 5:00 pm Their area is empty, no one manning it. They have a sign up with a phone number. I call this number and I'm told they have no cars left. I asked why they would rent my reserved car and they repeat the exact same thing. They have no cars left. I'm pissed, he sounds pissed that I would ask such a stupid question. I hang up and slide over to AVIS, they have 2 friendly people manning their area, I was able to get a Very nice car, excellent gas milage, the whole transaction took less than 10 minutes. I'm Quite pleased with Avis and wil consider them in the future.

Don’t waste your time! If I could I would have given them zero stars. My mom tried to get a car. Booked it almost a week in advance. We get there and right off the bat the girl was extremely disrespectful. Then we get to the pay part. They don’t use chime. Cool that’s fine. We go to the bank to move money into her bank account and when I called back the girl was rude again told me she canceled it and doesn’t have to tell me why. She kept talking over me and then hung up. I asked for her name and she laughed and said I don’t have to give you any of that. We needed the vehicle due to my grandpa passed away and my grandma who needs help needs to get with family. She knew that and just disregarded everything. I didn’t cuss. I didn’t yell. I didn’t nothing threatening or abusive.

I reserved a one-way rental from Joplin to Wichita on 9/5, they called me on 9/16 - 8 hours before I land to tell me they are a family owned franchise that does not offer one-way rental and they would be cancelling my reservation. This is complete garbage. If you don't offer one way rentals you need to escalate with Hertz and let them know that one-way is not an option for your location. At the bare minimum, you need to cancel these reservations the day of the booking. Two weeks ago I reserved a Hertz vehicle in OKC - I showed up and they had zero cars for me and the 4 folks waiting. Hertz is really going down hill. This will be the last time I try to rent from Hertz.

The hertz rental at the Joplin airport was great to work with. He spent the time and let us look in different vehicles to decide what size would be best for our trip. Very kind and very helpful. Would recommend.

I have rented vehicles from many locations over the years but Hertz at the Joplin Airport has been my choice of the last five years. They are always ready with the correct vehicle I want and the paperwork is always quick and easy and the employees knowledgeable. No longer will I ever wait at a Car Rental Agency for hours.

This experience wasn't as good as others. They didn't have someone at work when I came to pick up my rental. This was an issue they couldn't help so all is good.

I used to rent from this location a lot before COVID19. Recently in the last year I've needed to start renting again. Last year I rented for pickup at 8am. Upon arrival there was nobody working the desk. Eventually a guy came in stating they did not open until 10am and he did me and a few others a favor and opened early. Hertz website and Google stated they open at 8am. Fast forward to February 2024. Rented again for two days. Upon arrival it was noted that they did not have the car class I requested and thus I'd be getting a free upgrade to the next available class. On my way back to return I double checked their closing hours on Hertz and Google. I arrived around 8:40pm and they had apparently closed at 8pm which is not what is listed on Hertz or Google. I noted the milage and time on the booklet for the drop box. Was emailed a receipt the next morning and was charged for an extra day because I dropped off after they closed, and then they charged me for my free upgrade. I called the location and they refused to help. I called Hertz corporate to dispute the charges. They can't do anything due to this location being independently owned. They've opened two cases to request action with the owner but have not received any response. Customer service has been absolutely terrible. Do no rent from this Joplin airport location or the other Joplin location on Rangeline Road as they appear to be owned by the same person.
