“This place is an absolute gem! They have the best vegan charcuterie board I’ve ever had. It’s also a huge portion for the price. Their selection of wine is also fantastic and the staff are phenomenal.”
“They have such a good selection! I'm always finding new beer at this location. The other plus is that they have a walk-in humidor that is well maintained, so the cigars are always fresh.”
“Best shop in KC. The staff is both incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. Corey will shoot you straight and they will earn your trust. Skip the big box and shop local. You won’t regret it.”
“You know how in the Wizard of Oz the worlds changes from black & white to color? That has been my experience since being introduced to natural wine, and it has exclusively come from this lovely place and the people therein. I have never left Big Mood without having learned something new (about wine or otherwise), enjoyed a fun variety of wines, and met some cool people along the way. Richard is a fountain of knowledge, and as a novice wine drinker, I appreciate how approachable he makes the world of all things natural wine.
The whole experience is a vibe - why wouldn't you want to sip wine on the patio in a chill spot with lovely humans?”
“When we visit Gomer's in Parkville, I'm always amazed by the bourbon and whiskey selection. We always find something on the shelves that we cannot get in Lincoln, Nebraska. The service is also top-notch, friendly and knowledgeable.”
“I’m giving four stars because of the times before that I have went and I have been here a lot I love going to places that all are welcome and good customer service make you feel like they want you there…. BUT!!!! ROBBIE a cashier that I have never seen before made me feel like NEVER GOING BACK!!!! He was so rude as though he did want us to buy nothing and get out of here… I will go back because this is the first time that has happened so I will go back to test the water but he made it very awkward and unpleasant but the store is always clean and has been pleasant…. Until now….”

“Friendly, helpful staff. Plus they actually have enough staff. Their new building is nice. Lots of unique finds and things are on sale a lot.
Liquor stores often aren't something people like having in their neighborhood but they're a lovely part of ours.”
“My dad used to work at this place when he was in KC going to school, that was 55 or so years ago and this place is still in business! Now you just know a place that has been open that long has got to be a top tier establishment. Back then the owner was a guy named Frank, my dad still talks about him and all the other people he met while working at CV market”
“Probably the best selection you will ever find. There is a lot of employees who can help you find whatever you need, and sometimes the prices are decently cheaper then where I’ve seen it at other places for some liquor. Five out of five stars, I would have to say myself.”

“We were in Kansas City looking for liquor stores where we can buy a pick a pack of beer on ball flavors non IPA for my father. The place we were at didn't have a damn clue what we were talking about even though we called first and somebody had confirmed it with us over the phone that they did have it. We bumped into one of this places distributors and he was kind enough to help us and to direct us to another location where we could get what we needed. This place is employee was kind courteous and very helpful with a situation he didn't even need to be involved in but he was kind enough to step up and help us out even though he didn't work there.”
“Brookside Wine and Spirits was amazing to work with for our wedding reception in April 2024! They were great at communication. I had even accidentally scheduled the wrong date with them and they were flexible with being able to move it to the correct one, even though it was no fault of theirs. They allow you to sell back any unopened liquor and drinks which was fantastic so that nothing went to waste. The two bartenders who served at our wedding were fantastic and so much fun! We could not recommend them more and I would give them more than 5 stars if I could!”
“Awesome spot!
My wife and I stopped in for a tasting and bought a few glasses of wine - great value.
Owner happened to be working and has a cool/refreshing story. This is a place you should support and is a place you will enjoy.”
“Always great customer service especially with the on line pick up service. I've been shopping at this store for years and it's always been excellent. One small thing..the "clearance" shelves are confusing. Thanks”
“Rena is awesome! She goes up and above in terms of customer satisfaction! Great spirit! Clean and well established store. Great selection. Also, if there’s something they don’t have, be sure to ask for it! Maybe they will get it in stock one day! Five stars!”
“They have most everything you're looking for as far as liquor and what goes with it. Very quick to get in and out and extremely friendly people. Really nice place. Older building but nice place.”

“What a wide and varied selection. You can get just about everything here. The rum selection was fantastic and the staff was very knowledgeable about their spirits and the products they sold.
Definitely pop in for Mexican, Jamaican, Bajan, Grenadian, Demerara, and Haitian rums.”
“This is my favorite liquor store in the Kansas City area. The prices are great and the selection is fantastic. The owner, Jason, is always in the store and making sure his clients are satisfied. He's one of the nicest people I've ever met!”
“I love this store so much. So many neat handmade items to comb through, they have gifts, decor, kitchen/bath supplies, food, furniture and pretty much everything in between. The prices are reasonable, I never have trouble finding something to buy”
“This was our first time going to this location on Wornall Rd this store is very clean. The people are very friendly, and they help from the moment that you walk into the store, and we will definitely be back.”

“Such a great little liquor store. Not huge, so they don't have everything under the sun. But, they are regular and real people here and you can have a conversation with them. The staff are always friendly. And, if you want something that they don't have, they will order it for you. This place is my go to liquor store because it's great. Great service, great people, great prices. Overall a and everytime a wonderful experience!”
“The only place I feel safe. The staff is very helpful and respectful at all times and knows you by name. Don't allow the harassment to go on outside like some others place do. I have been going to that establishment for over 40 years. Keep up the good work. VINCE”
“We have worked with Pina for our golf tournament two years in a row and have had exceptional experiences. They have been crucial to helping us determine the quantity of alcohol that we need. Jimmy and his team have been so fun to work with. I would recommend Pina Wine & Spirits to stock up on your personal supply and for any large event that you host. They also have rare and unique bottles of liquor that make for great gifts. I now shop exclusively at Pina.”
“Plaza Liquor made a great first impression with its curated selection of bourbon, featuring both popular favorites and hard-to-find gems. The store is clean and well-organized, and the wonderful owner made the experience feel personal and welcoming. If you’re a bourbon lover, this place is a must-visit.”
“So they are great about almost everything but their Escobar are bad the first one i got was leaking into the bag and the second one got 2 short puff out before it was burnt and he had me check both of them but I hit the second one and it was fine but I got outside and it was burnt after I hit it. Just don't buy vapes there. Otherwise they are great”

“I really liked stopping in to this store. If I lived close, it would be a favorite. It was fun to hear the staff talking to regulars. Huge selection of any brand. I highly recommend!”
“I love shopping here. I love all of the staff, they have the most eclectic staff North of the river, And I love every single employee who works there. They're all friendly, every one.
When they have a great deal, they have a great deal! A lot of their deals are the same kind of deals that you will find at Price Chopper in their weekly ads, except a lot of their not-on-sale stuff is less expensive than Price Chopper.
I usually come in on my way home from working the night shift for the deli chicken because it's just so delicious and it's only $7.99 for four legs and four thighs. ?
It is really good chicken, in my opinion, and you can't beat the price. Even if they have to raise it a dollar or two soon because of the economy, I will still buy it, and it will still be worth it. (Go get it now while it's still $7.99. Before tariffs take full effect in the coming weeks.)
But today I came in a little bit early, too early for the deli to be opened (it opens at 10:00 a.m.,) so instead I bought some of the day old/leftover chicken at a discount, and also decided to try the hamburgers with cheese in the discount/cold deli section, (Right next to the deli counter and salad and produce,) because I needed a quick meal. (they also sell fresh cheeseburger patties, and they off buns and condiments and everything.)
I seriously was not expecting much from leftover hamburger patties, I tend to like mine fresh and pretty rare. However, I have a lot of work to do today and I really needed something quick.
Oh. My . Glob. ???
I nuked one for 30 seconds and threw it on a big piece of lettuce with ketchup and mustard and mayo. And my eyes rolled into the back of my head and I did that "oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh" happy dance that people do when something is really, really, really good... THAT'S how good it was. it tasted like I went to somebody's barbecue and they were a good cook and didn't totally burn my burger to a charcoal looking crisp.)
Day old. Nuked.
How? HOW? how is a day old hamburger patty THAT good? I feel like I'm losing my mind. ?
Anyhow, the chicken and the burgers and deli food are really good. They are good even if they are a day old. But they're really awesome fresh.
The weekly ad deals are awesome.
But I think I like the people the best. The shy ones, the ones that are always so busy but they still say hi. Everyone.
The store is not in my neighborhood, but I love stopping there a few times a week after work.
It's on the corner of Brighton and Parvin.
You can take the Searcy Creek exit on 210 and take the idyllic drive northward on Searcy Creek Parkway to get there easily. (Take a left on Parvin Rd. It's on the corner of Parvin and Brighton. )
It's worth making it a trip on your way home if you live in the Northland or Gladstone, or anywhere north of the river.
And please tip whoever is working in the deli if you like the food. They're not expecting 40% or anything- They aren't expecting anything. They actually get embarrassed by it - It's just nice to do.
Especially if you find yourself saving money from going to Popeyes or Church's or KFC or having a barbecue outside to have one or two burgers or ribs. (Oh yeah, also, I had butterfly shrimp the other day... It was really good, and a great price!) A lot of the deli items are really good. Chicken tenders. Pastas. Mexican dishes. Barbecue. You're not going to find a better price anywhere for food this good.)”
“Knowledgeable, passionate, and great selection. I feel like they are great at accommodating for low to high budgets as well. Also great to support local. Big fan of the $100 case for every day/normal occasion bottles.”
