About Powell Hall at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center
Powell Hall is a historic venue in St. Louis known for its superb acoustics and home to the Grammy Award-winning Saint Louis Orchestra. Located in the Mid-town Art District, it offers a vibrant cultural experience near the Fabulous Fox and St. Louis University. Visitors have enjoyed a variety of events, including live orchestras accompanying films and concerts featuring tribute bands, with many praising the performances and atmosphere. However, Powell Hall is set to undergo remodeling and will be closed for two years, during which the orchestra will perform at alternative venues. Despite parking challenges, guests appreciate the unique experience and the beauty of the hall, making it a beloved gem in the community.

The new renovated space is beautiful. The chandeliers in the red carpet foyer are impressive and sophisticated, as they have always been but more sparkling. Every seat is comfy and the sound carries very well. The highest we sat was the lower balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed the opening concert.

I flew in from Pennsylvania for a matinee of The Magic Flute at Powell Hall, and the experience was excellent. The venue is beautiful, and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful—they made navigating everything as an out‑of‑town visitor incredibly easy. A great performance in a great hall.
