The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is one of the most exciting orchestras today and is the second-oldest in the country, celebrating its 145th year in the 2024/2025 season under the leadership of Music Director Stéphane Denève. The orchestra is dedicated to artistic excellence, education, and community engagement, aiming to enrich lives through the power of music. Attendees often describe their experiences as memorable and special. One concert featured the orchestra playing the score live during a popular movie, creating a new and immersive way to enjoy a film. The orchestra's performances are praised for their incredible quality, with full emotion and depth that make each event unforgettable. The Powell Symphony Hall, where many performances are held, is loved for its beautiful setting and has hosted a variety of concerts, including free community events like the Juneteenth celebration with choir, spoken word, and soloists. However, some logistical issues have been noted. Visitors have experienced frustration with the box office being rude and the challenges of using the app for tickets, which sometimes led to delays or inconveniences. Despite these challenges, the overall experience with the symphony remains positive, with many eager to attend future performances and enjoy the ongoing renovations that enhance the venue. Overall, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra continues to provide outstanding music experiences for its community.
The symphony is wonderful. I will say, the box office has been consistently patronizing and rude, and today was another frustrating example. Non profit classical music admin is filled with failed musicians from state schools and dealing with them in any capacity is exhausting.

The SLSO always provides a memorable experience. Can't wait to hear them at Kiel Opera House on September 24th. It's still Kiel Opera House to me, that's where they performed in 1964.
