Food was fantastic. Great steaks. The side order of brussel sprouts were excellent.

Both service and food rivaled the best we've experienced. We chose ribeye steaks, which were perfectly done. A good selection of sauces is availlable to complement the steaks. Staff was very careful with pandemic issues.

Excited you started doing brunch? Had a great meal and restaurant is immaculate. All staff had masks on. Loved the outside seating. Great service! Very reasonably priced for value you receive. Will be back :)

Last night was our first time going to 1889 and I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve heard mixed reviews.....but we had a wonderful experience from start to finish! Eli was our Server and he was kind, knowledgeable, attentive, professional and personable. All of the staff was very pleasant and following all of the current safety protocols. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, entrees and dessert and it all arrived in a very timely manner. Everything was presented beautifully and how you would expect at a high end steakhouse. My husband got a Ribeye Steak prepared medium (it was prepared perfectly and he is definitely a steak critic) and I got the Halibut (I’m from Alaska and hold very high standards for halibut and salmon) and it was some of the best halibut I’ve ever had hands down! We left with full bellies, happy hearts and feeling very well taken care of. It was the perfect place for us to celebrate my husbands recent promotion at work. Thank you 1889, we’ll be back!

We had a wonderful meal here. Service was friendly and attentive. The steak was cooked as ordered as had great flavor. Also tried the salmon which was cooked perfectly. We would definitely return.

For the appetizer we ordered the fish cakes that were served with steamed sweet peppers and sauce that was amazing! Their cocktails were very good too. Little overpriced but the view was nice. We ordered steaks and had the cavatappi mac and cheese that was so creamy and delicious. The steaks are served with homemade sauces. They have a sauce akin to A1 but severely lacking the acidity to cut the fatty steak cuts. Same with their chimmichuri sauce. It was too oily and lacked that tang you get. The dessert was good. We were so full but just had to tie the night together with a dessert.

Absolutely amazing! Great bison burgers, truffle fries, and hands down the best cocktails. Absolutely love this spot and will be back

Visited during vacationing in Montana... it was nice. Staff wore masks and were very attentive to our needs. Bread was wonderful but you have to pay for it. The apps and salads we ordered were delicious. We had two types of their streaks... they came out per our speculations. We were too stuffed to try their desserts.... but they sounded marvelous. Our drinks never went dry. We will return if we are back in this area.

Well, when you go to a steakhouse there are some things you expect and other things that shouldn't happen. The place wouldn't give an alternative to garlic mashed potatoes. I mean Wendy's has a baked potato. I ordered oysters and there were no oysters. Also when ordering a steak and the only thing it comes with is nasty garlic mashed potatoes it should be a little more appropriately priced. There was a glass of complimentary water , at least. There wasn't any bread or salad or soup that was served with the steak. I mean at the outback steakhouse you get more than a little bit of reconstituted garlic potatoes. Over priced and cheap powdered potatoes. At least the bread we ordered was good, but it was tiny, I left hungry. I should have been completely stuffed considering the amount on the check. The meal didn't satisfy. Back at the hotel after eating dinner at the restaurant I was microwaving a soup and made another for my GF. It's absolutely not a place I would recommend. The waitress was very kind and prompt is just about the only thing that was really nice about eating at 1889 steakhouse. I ordered med-rare and it came med-well. Unbelievable that I would prefer a cheap fast food joint over a steakhouse. No other choice on the potatoes? really ?

Honestly cannot understand why there are not more 5-star reviews. Our food and service was amazing! The price - spot on considering that other steakhouses (won't mention names here) are just as much if not more without the fanciness and plate decoration. The service - impeccable. One of the chief complaints I've read is regarding the steaks. One of our guests had steak and loved it! Came as requested and was flavorful. The view isn't as great but with service and food like we experienced, we didn't care one bit. KUDOS to the owners for providing a relaxing environment, great food and amazing service.

One of the best bison burgers in town. Make sure to check out happy hour for half off prices too.

I lol at these silly bad reviews. I am giant fan of eating steaks for dinner and sometimes even on a cheeky lunch!!!! I come to Missoula tow days and eat here for both days! Serious, quiet time children, time to listen to the old wise Man, these are the best steak I ever have eaten in my entire life. I'm 74, year old. TheSse are so so gosh darn delicious. Sometimes I sit back in my lazy boy chair at night and think about the beat meals I've had, the ones that almost change you're mind and this is up there. The people that work ther Are also nice young ladies and gentlemen that are sincere and caring. Not sure why they are call 1889? Maybe that's the number of steaks I should eat every day! Yumm yumm. Or also could be the year of a famous person was born, I know two!!!! One bad man. Adolf hitler was born in 1889 and the other really good man!!! Charlie Chaplin. It's funny because that's a year really long ago and they have the same exact moustaache. If you dress like Charlie Chaplin for Halloween day holiday sometimes people think you are dress like racist old dictators because the facial hair is exactly the same! Hopefully this place is named after Charlie not naughty boy hitler!

Amazing food. Amazing service. So glad this gem of a restaurant exists in Missoula. Huge windows facing the heart of downtown makes for awesome people watching. The crab cakes and halibut are a couple of my favorites.

Good food and drinks, but what's the deal with the two servers dropping off/explaining the dishes being the only employees NOT in a mask?

Went in for drinks and apps recently and had a perfectly lovely evening. Service was calm, collected, and kind. The drinks are well designed and expertly executed, and the butter flight was, well, simply delightful. A great addition to downtown Missoula's culinary scene.

Myself and a few friends came here just for some drinks but ended up staying for food and I'm SO glad we did! We weren't too hungry so got a few things and shared them. The steak was to die for! The crab cakes were delightful and even the Brussel spouts were beyond expectation. Not a wide selection of beers but I suppose it's more of a wine and cocktail place. A little more pricey than places I normally go but it's worth it for the food and service. This place is underrated, can't fault it.

Still don't understand why this place doesn't have five stars from everyone. The service was amazing. Friendly, cordial and at the beginning of the Covid mask wearing challenge were really accommodating and kind. The steak my husband ordered was a ribeye and it was one of the best steaks He's ever had. And he's very picky. For appetizers we had the crabcakes and they simply could not have been better-- aïoli sauce with garlic but not too much so and the pickled vegetables were delicious. We also ordered some off the menu drinks and they were made to perfection. And the bartender was super friendly and kind.

Overall, my entire family was very, very impressed by the quality and taste of the food. We haven't experienced a meal at a restaurant this great in a long time. The servers were also incredibly nice and helpful and the management seems great! I only give it 4 stars because it was so incredibly pricy ($37 for my 12oz steak and mashed potatoes, no veggies), but it would certainly be worth it for a meaningful day/celebration :)Also, crab cakes were the best I've ever had in Montana (and I LOVE crab cakes). Thanks for the amazing meal!

Had dinner there last night. The food was all excellent. Although the staff was incredibly nice and helpful, the restaurant was clearly understaffed. The menu selections were very good, but it was limited. We would definitely eat there again.

This was my first experience at 1889 but all I can say is it's absolutely exceptional. From the food to the service everything was amazing, especially the crab cakes and steak. For Missoula, I'm extremely impressed with not only the atmosphere but the ability to bring such great dishes to the table. I will definitely be back!

The servers are great and above all a lot of this review goes to them. Ordered two steaks, both mid rare. They were almost well done. Barely any pink and no red in the steaks. This is a steakhouse that charges around 40$ per steak. And they couldn’t cook the steak properly. We had already waited an hour for food and I didn’t want to wait longer for another steak that I did not trust the kitchen to get right. I did get a side that was delicious and cooked well. But the main event the steak was a let down. The server was great and understanding and marked off some of our meal for our trouble. Still, next time I’m going to make the drive to Lolo Steakhouse instead to get a better steak for less money. And have it cooked correctly.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish! We tried numerous appetizers which were all amazing! I'm normally not a steak person but oh my goodness! The only bad thing I have to say is I wish they had more bar selections..especially since they said it was a full bar but didnt have a few things we tried to order. But other than that our meal was perfect! We will definately be coming back

The food isn’t bad but it’s overpriced for what you get. The pricing makes you think it’s going to be amazing.... honestly though... out of all the merc places; by far the best!

Been here twice. Honestly? Just okay. I'm really picky in this price range, as some Portland restaurants that are James Beard award winners aren't as expensive! For the price, it should be better. Steak was very rare when ordered medium-rare. A steak in a steakhouse should be cooked perfectly, right? Pork belly was nice. Good wine selection. Don't get a table in the back of the bar - very loud/ acoustical issues and tables smashed up against a wall (with a cool mural) Other bar booths are comfy. Second Set is much better!

Had dinner with a party of 8. Service was very good. Cocktails and wine were good. Some people had steaks and others the raviolis. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the restaurant has a nice feel to it.

Made reservations here for my 4 year anniversary with my boyfriend (day after Valentine’s Day) Everything was phenomenal! The crab cakes were delicious, and the cocktails were on point (they also have a wonderful wine selection I would like to explore more in later visits.) We both ordered the chef’s feature of aged steak filet and my boyfriend said, “it was the best steak he’s ever had anywhere” (and we’ve traveled a good amount.)
