I loved staying at Holiday inn - great big territory, wildlife and top hot springs that work from 7am to 10pm! Highly recommend for quiet vacation spot

I didn’t stay in the hotel. I was there for a meeting. The 1862 restaurant was really good. As far as the location, you have to have a car. The hotel doesn’t have a shuttle and it is hard to get an Uber.

Our hotel sent us here for a timeshare presentation with an offer for a day pass to the David Walley hot springs. The “hot springs” is just a regular hot tub (with no jets) supposedly filled with geothermal water.
We had to drive 30 mins away, from our lovely resort, to this mediocre place with basic, no frills “hot springs”. It’s in the middle of nowhere, away from Lake Tahoe and a complete waste of our time.

We love this place. Beautiful and secluded from the noise and traffic of Tahoe. Love the hot springs , although quite crowded at night. However the 2 bedroom apt that was assigned to us this time had one big issue that was very annoying while we were staying there last week. Room 2312, Bodie building.
Avoid staying in this building as the water pressure fluctuates so much, especially when full occupancy, there is hardly any water. I had to call the front desk 4 out of 7 nights that we stayed there because no water/ dripping only in the apartment, from kitchen faucet to shower head. The technician would then do some adjustment/ checked gauge and somehow shortly after there will be water. Was told by the front desk that all rooms in the Bodie building are affected.

None of the appliances worked. We had to replace the refrigerator twice - spoiled food in the freezer and refrigerator. The stove exhaust fan didn't work. Reading lights on the bed headboard didn't work. Lights in the bedroom did not turn on from the wall switch. The showerhead had to be replaced. Water temperature and water pressure fluctuated greatly. The Internet was very slow.

Excellent place to stay. We stayed in a one bedroom villa. Comes with full kitchen and washer dryer inside. Kids friendly place with game rooms with pool tables and ping pong. The hot mineral spring pools are very relaxing. It is about 25 minutes drive downhill from south lake tahoe in the historic city of Genoa.

Wow. I give 5 stars for location because this place is off the beaten path and located beautifully in the Sierra Nevada foothills with a breathtaking view of the valley. Some people like conveniently located resorts that are right in the heart of everything. I prefer to actually get away when I want to 'get away'. Aside from the 2 lane highway that runs aside this resort you can't see much else other than a couple farm houses..
The views of the night sky are unparalleled thanks to an light pollution ordinance that is in place. This prohibits upward facing lights which means you will experience a nighttime view of the sky and stars that is 2nd to none. There is definitely room for improvement around the property. But the friendly staff and relaxing natural hot spring spa tubs more than make up for any shortcomings I have seen. This place is just too cool and is entwined with history... I mean, Mark Twain was a guest that frequented this place and even wrote about it.. this is definitely an experience that everyone should enjoy if possible.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. For the price of a hotel room we got a nice one bedroom apartment with everything needed to prepare meals except the food. We loved the balcony. What we came for were the hot springs. They were wonderful. We had a delicious prime rib dinner at the restaurant.

The “tour” Holiday Inn vacation club tries to get you to participate in is a ripoff. Do not agree to it.
We stayed at a holiday inn hotel in Lake Tahoe one year and the next year received a phone call for a survey. We were then lured to pay $200 with the promise of 3 days at “any IHG resort” plus $100 rebate and IHG points if we listen to a sales pitch.
A week later we tried to use those 3 nights at the same Lake Tahoe hotel we’d stayed in we were told there’s gonna be extra charge so we asked to book us in another hotel where there won’t be any extra charge. They booked us in a third party hotel in Stateline, NV with the market rate of $70 a night (weekdays)
We realized the tour was at a different city about 30m drive from Lake Tahoe. I drove to the presentation location (this facility). However I was told my wife had to be with me for the sales pitch even though I explained why she couldn’t accompany me.
So we were charged $308 for those three nights as a penalty. Overall we were charged $508 in total by Holiday Inn and a ton of hassle for something we could’ve gotten for about $190 had we booked the hotel ourselves.
No amount of complaining over the phone to their representatives helped as they kept saying “oh you agreed to the terms”
The silver lining is we saved ourselves a larger sum of money by not being allowed to attend the “tour”
