“Yesterday I bought my second e-bike — a Specialized Turbo Levo Alloy — from Sierra Cyclesmith in Reno, NV, and the experience was outstanding.

I already own an e-bike in Europe, but this was my first purchase here in the U.S., and the team made everything easy and smooth. They were incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to walk me through all the details of the Turbo Levo, answer my questions, and make sure the bike was perfectly set up for me.

They also helped me choose the best bike rack for my car and recommended the right accessories without any pressure — just honest, professional advice focused on what actually made sense for my needs.

Great customer service, great atmosphere, and a team that clearly knows and loves bikes. I highly recommend Sierra Cyclesmith to anyone in the Reno area looking for a new bike or e-bike.

Thanks again, guys!”

“Curtis and Lance were extra helpful in helping me purchase the right bike at an incredibly affordable price. Never did they push anything on me and I came away with a new bike extremely satisfied. Next time I shop for a new bike, I’m coming here.”

“Very friendly, fast, and patient with me pointing to a million different things I don't know how to fix/adjust myself yet. Thanks for being friendly to a newbie!

Came in with a lumpy, noisy tire. Left with a silent, lumpless ride.”

“The staff at Black Rock Curtis and Jason have been fantastic both before and after sale of my Aventon Ramblas eMTB.At this shop you can rest assured that the staff know their bikes and will take care of you and understand any issues you have.I never met any sales tactics, just an honest group that takes care of their customers - humbly serving the greater North Valleys and beyond mind you (no small feat.)Whether warranty related or just a general bike tune up, after sales support or accessories purchases - Black Rock has you covered. In a world where any bike can be purchased online it doesn't end there. Technical expertise and good people are the DNA of a fantastic bike shop to complete the purchase.Black Rock is that bike shop, so support them, or any shop that treats you right as a customer! They are a dying breed.”

“Only bike shop I use and I drive past probably 10 to get there. Staff is just great and even tho my bikes been in the shop for a few weeks I have zero doubt there going as fast as they can. Any hold ups are always the people sending not receiving parts. But I’ll have a detailed review on how they did on my full electric swap on my 2024 Heckler CC! I’m told it will run like new. Oh and to the Karen complaining about “guys hanging out”!!! You’re not in back where the work happens. I would hope a show room would be fun and light. You seem to just be angry that they couldn’t fully diagnose what you needed over the phone. Blaming them for damage is super not cool and if they did they would first tell u and second fix it!”

“So picking a spot to start this review is complicated. I'll begin chronologically. And I'll try to keep it as short as possible without going too far into detail.
Upon arrival, you are met with the best customer service. Most bicycle shops in Reno are very biased and snobby. They have a attitude of superiorness. It almost feels transactional at most bicycle shops. College cyclery really does not put forward those kinds of mentalities at all. They are down to earth and modest. When you begin to ask questions and explain what you are looking for, they legitimately listen to you. Which is a rare thing to be found in a bicycle shop or anywhere these days. Most of my experiences at other bicycle shops were met with pushy sales people trying to sell the best bike that cost the most to you, and scoffing at you when your opinions did not line up with theirs. I ran into this a lot when I was looking for a fixed gear track bicycle. As well as my gravel bicycle that I purchased the other day from college cyclery.
After having delightful conversations with everyone in the shop, asking questions about brands, financing, what the locals are doing with different bikes etc. I decided to buy my first gravel bike at college cyclery. They went through my bike fit more thoroughly than anywhere that I have been. I don't want to name names to talk down about other shops but I mean it. This place is extremely thorough. The best bike fit I've gotten out of at least three different bicycle fits at three different shops. In Reno. They fixed things I wasn't even aware of. They recommended a lot of other useful information to me. I had into depth conversations about actual life things with the employees. Which normally at other shops I feel like it was very transactional/ Business only . This bike shop is involved with our city a lot more as well, creating new trails, etc. They create a family type atmosphere that encourages people to just get out there and cycle more. Which I highly appreciate.

The bicycle I purchased was a very fair price. When compared to other places you cannot get as good of a deal. You would need to do your own research on group components, bicycle brands, etc. I'm not going to get into that in a review.
Not going to lie to you and say that this place is the cheapest place or the most expensive place. They're definitely in the middle of the road. But at most of the more expensive places I've been met with nothing but people running around boasting bragging rights based off of how much money they spent on there bicycle, not how many miles you put on the thing, or what crazy adventures you might have overcome. At the cheaper shops, there's an extreme lack of knowledge/ experience, typically teenagers.
Long story short, I rode off with the bicycle that I purchased yesterday. Happier than I've been in years with a new fire Ignited for cycling that I've lost for many years. Due to home ownership and life etc. Thank you guys so much for the experience and the new bicycle that you provided to me. By the way Amy the wife was not worried at all when she saw the tremendous smile and immense amount of energy just pouring out of me when I pulled up on that new gravel bicycle. I think it might have even sparked her interest to want to ride a gravel bicycle like such. She was making comments about stealing it lol. Thank you all. I appreciate everything you guys do and I hope that you continue to do it and pass it on to someone else to continue this amazingly beneficial sport to every next generation. There's so many mental and physical benefits to be gained from cycling. Cycle on.”
