Not for the faint of heart or week willed this is Up sale city in disguise. Practice saying no and we are ok as is. Just beware they use the assumed sale method, which means instead of asking if you’d like to buy an add on they ask which one making you think it’s included it’s not. We went in for the birthday bear for my 1 year olds birthday and wow oh wow I can’t tell you how many up sales they attempted and then made comments about not getting every accessory and talking hart and scent and the full birthday out fit. This is for a one year old I want the bear to be soft and cuddly no hard parts inside.

My son went to celBEARate his 1st in style +get his (Pay your Age) 'Happy Birthday' Bear (normally a $14ish stuffed animal value)! The nice thing being a mom of a toddler is you can go anytime during their birthday month vs only the day of, which is convenient as the days leading up to/surrounding my son's actual September birthday were chaotic, occuring 1 day after my wedding (side note he arrived early on our original wedding date+we reachedule while I was pregnant 😂).
SERVICE/ATMOSPHERE: The store was busy, but we still got his stuffed bear in a fairly quick timely manner. He enjoyed seeing the wall of stuffies in the meantime. Only downside is its a small store for how busy it can get+ you may have to stand off to the side until other customers clear out. Having some level of patience is nerded. The employee helping us this day was sweet/friendly. As a parent I liked how they have a cute process of making it fun/sentimental with stuffing the Bear+with the heart you insert. (Ill be honest it had been like 22 years since I was in a Build a Bear myself, but I felt it still had some level of a magical feel to it with getting a somewhat 'personalized' stuffed animal there).
COST/FEATURES-WORTH IT?: We did pay to add a smell good SCENTiment heart (cotton candy-cost $5) and a light up 3 mode heart ($7.50). In total his bear (no clothing/no $ on carrying bags.. as he hugged it the whole way out) cost $19.62 after tax. While you can see the heart light up, you do have to kinda move the fluffier furr to the side in the birthday bear. You can smell the cotton candy heart up close, but in full transparency,
I feel that the smells/light featudes are for the initial experience and don't know if I would do the smell good SENTimenatal heart again or the $7.50 light up heart (If you do it maybe save it til they can understand and remember going+feel the love surrounded the building/dressing of their stuffie) (NOTE tshirts can cost $7-10ish), dresses and other items seem more. It obviously DOES get pricey as some stuffed items are like $30-$40 for the stuffed animal alone. I probably would do the sound option OR customizable voice message VS chosing a light up heart/smell good heart.
Obviously, It wouldn't be the place I get my kids' EVERY stuffed animal or even frequent yearly (in my personal opinion). With that being said, I still would rate the place/company 5 stars. I feel its an experience a kid should at least experience once as our stuffed animals are a cherished/sentimental part of our childhood. If you grew up frugal like me, something I can recommend for a build a bear or stuffie purchased elsewhere that you/your kid loves, find thrifted baby/toddler clothes for super cheap at a yard sale/thrift store to dress it up (including dog colors+tags like if a pet).. It was a considerable way to save money for me growing up/pay a fraction of the cost. Regardless, still consider 5 stars as a fun experience for little kids .

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at this location, I took my 7 year old niece for her first build a bear and it was not a fun experience for her. There was a really rude old lady that should not be working with the kids. she doesn’t know how to talk to children the way she was explaining the voice over buttons was very rude! She’s 7 she had no idea how any of this place works. I took my niece and explained things on my own. This place used to have fun staff that cared about kids having a great time. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Her spirit was crushed and it pissed me off. So thanks lady I didn’t get your name but you know who you are.

Staff are so nice here! Great selection of stuffed animals, clothes, and accessories. No one judged me for being a 30 year old picking out new clothes for my stuffed bear ? also picked up one of their new mini stuffies.

We noticed one of the staff going out of their way to ask the children if their bear was a boy or girl and that boy bears sometimes wear dresses (regardless if the bear was wearing a dress or not). Its such a shame because the staff otherwise were so sweet to our child, we're probably not going to come back.
