A shockingly excellent collection of Eastern Sierra and cowboy art.

I am a huge fan of supporting the arts. However, this museum was lacking in its collection. Clearly in the future it will be a fully fleshed out collection, but right now there are only 3 exhibits and you can get through the whole place in 15 minutes.

At the time of my visit, unfortunately, there were no exhibitions on a topic that appealed to me. The works of Charlotte Butler Skinner (1879-1963), an American painter who loved the nature and land of the Nevada region, stood out. It felt like the effort of driving 7 hours round trip across the snow-capped mountains to visit was rewarded.Don't forget to appreciate the surrounding mountains of Reno seen from the museum's rooftop.

Came to enjoy Second Saturday with the addition of crafts, story time, and The Reno Philharmonic; along with the beautiful and thought provoking galleries. All museum staff are knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. The cafe has delicious and welcoming snacks and beverages. The shop always has enticing trinkets.

Every time I've come here, there have been fascinating exhibits. Our family has also taken children's art classes here which have been wonderful.

The Nevada Museum of Art is a wonderful delight for all ages! The staff are welcoming, kind and helpful with navigating around the Museum. The security staff are vigilant, yet kind, and pleasantly informative about the galleries.Budget-friendly once a month(for families who may need it) as they have free admission for all, PLUS amazing crafts for kids to do! We attended the glass painting, and weaving recently, and will definitely be back! =)My one & only complaint is their parking lot is quite small, other than that, 5 stars!

Way overpriced for what it is. The exhibits are good by all means, but you should only go here if you appreciate supporting the arts. That is what you're doing by going here. I've been to free museums with much better exhibits. Very disappointed. But fortunately I do like supporting the arts so the hefty price has less of a blow. Added pictures of my 3 favorite exhibits. Took me about 15 minutes to make it through the whole museum. Dollar per minute ain't good enough value. I'm sure I could have spent more time but there wasn't anything worth engaging with.

I really enjoy going to the Nevada Museum of Art all year round! They are constantly changing their exhibits and I like how they festure both regional artists as well as world renowned artists. The second Saturday events are also really fun for the kids, they give us adults a chance to see the exhibits, while also sharing them with the kids. There are also art activities and usually live music. I've seen some really great performances during these events. Highly recommend, and did I mention it's free to get in! The First Thursday's music events are also really fun, being able to listen to music on the rooftop with a beautiful view and intimate venue for music. We are very lucky to have an amazing museum in Reno, I'm excited to see what the expansion brings!

Hands down one of my favorite venues to work a wedding or any event! Nikki is amazing and is there for our clients every step of the way. I highly recommend having your wedding or event at the Museum of Art. Especially if you are a lover of Art.

Title: A Four-Floor Feast for the Eyes: Nevada Museum of ArtReview:Stepping into the Nevada Museum of Art located at 160 W Liberty St in Reno feels akin to diving into a vibrant pool of creativity and cultural richness. With four expansive floors that artfully showcase a myriad of artistic expressions, this museum offers a journey for the senses and the soul.Right from sculptures that challenge perceptions to paintings that tell a thousand tales, the exhibits here are a testament to the ever-evolving tapestry of art. Every nook and cranny seems to whisper stories, some bold and loud, others soft and introspective.Parking, however, is where the challenge lies. It's a bit like finding a needle in a haystack during peak hours. But, as they say, the best treasures are often hidden, and this museum is worth the minor parking hiccup. So, my advice? Plan ahead, maybe arrive a tad early, and perhaps wear those comfy walking shoes. Now, if your ears perk up at the mention of live music, you're in for a treat. On certain days, the museum pulsates with live melodies that resonate beautifully with the art around. It's like a symphony for the senses. To ensure you don't miss out, a quick call to inquire about their musical schedule might be in order. The museum also prides itself on continuously reinventing its offerings. With new activities and events consistently in the pipeline, every visit feels fresh and exciting. In conclusion, the Nevada Museum of Art isn't just a place; it's an experience. Whether you're an art connoisseur or someone simply looking for an afternoon of enrichment, this museum delivers, and then some. Remember, in the heart of Reno lies this canvas of creativity, waiting to be explored. So why wait? Dive in and let the art wash over you! ??️??️

My organization, Shades of Queening, was invited to a Talk and Lunch with Sidney Cain. I had an amazing time. The talk was very engaging, and the lunch afterward, catered by Roundabout Catering, was delicious! Claire was very kind and hospitable. I will continue to be a supporter of the museum!

This is a beautiful museum! I even went over to speak with someone about volunteering as a docent. I did this for 22 years when I lived in the Bay Area and I really enjoyed teaching children about art. This docent program would be a lot of training, practical work, ect. I decided that I'm just done with more volunteering at this point in my life, at least something that wouldn't be so training intensive. We went yesterday to see the exhibit that was leaving that very day. It was super cool to learn all about the "ghost army". I must admit that I didn't know anything about this...it was incredible to read and learn about this army and how they were able to fool Hitler's soldiers at least 6 times. As we were getting ready to leave we saw they were showing a documentary about the "ghost army" so we went in and watched the entire show. It was excellent and so educational for me... The next installation was the art of Native American artist named Ben Aleck. His work was exceptional! I love that his work was all about his culture. We went up to the 4th floor where they hold parties and such, it was a great space for events! In each bathroom there was a great photo of Marilyn Monroe from the last movie she made, cool! We had a wonderful time and the fact that we got there right when they opened at 10 a.m. was awesome because as we were leaving people were pouring in, probably because it was the final day for the Ghost Army exhibition. Love this place!
