“We used Carney’s Full Service Movers for both packing and moving in July 2025 and are very happy with their service. From the initial consultation/estimate to the two days of packing and moving and beyond, the customer service was fantastic.

The estimate was managed by Kenny, who did an excellent job figuring out how many hours and how much material it would take to get us from our old home to our new home. The final cost was less than expected (hooray!), but very close to the estimate, so there were no surprises there. No deposit was required – they took payment (check or cash only) when they completed the move on Day 2.

On the first day of the move, Kevin, Jeremy, and Lee arrived on time and ready to go. We did a quick tour of the house to give them the lay of the land, then they went to work like gangbusters. There was no dawdling, ambling, meandering, or sauntering to be seen – these guys moved fast! Which was especially appreciated as Carney’s charged us by the hour, not by the project.

They stopped for a few very short breaks, then jumped right back in. We had been planning to buy lunch for them, but on Day 1 they were so fast they were done packing everything by lunchtime (we bought breakfast the next day instead).

Day 2 was moving day, and started much the same – arriving on time, jumping right in and moving quickly. At one point there was a slight mishap with a chair, but I cannot call it a negative experience as the response was what you would hope for – management responded right away, apologized, and made it right. It’s best if everything goes perfectly, but sometimes things happen and it’s all about how a company responds to and deals with challenges that count in our book.

The workers went above and beyond, helping with a few things outside of the scope of the project (such as helping me remove a few screws from the wall that I could not get without a power tool, which had already been packed; getting our antenna out of the attic, etc.). Speaking of above and beyond, here is the shining moment: Jeremy found a large stash of cash that my husband had squirreled away and forgot to retrieve before moving day. Jeremy immediately called me over and handed it to me. It would have been so easy for any of them to simply pocket the money as we would likely not have noticed the loss for some time. Thank you for your honesty! That meant more to us than the money.

In the late afternoon they called in several more workers to help so the move could be finished in a timely manner, at no extra cost to us. By the time the job was complete (around 5pm) everyone was tired, including us, but the Carney’s team was just as professional, courteous, and upbeat as they were on the morning of the first day.

“We had a great experience using U-Pack for our 1,000-mile relocation move. The drivers were friendly and responsive, and any customer service contacts were very pleasant. My only challenge was finding a padlock that worked to secure the bulkhead. The local home store did not supply any locks which met the requirements, so my shipment was picked up without the bulkhead being secure. My items were not disturbed in any way, however, but my suggestion to U-Pack would be to provide an option to purchase a padlock during the reservation process. Overall a wonderful experience!”

“I don’t have anything bad to say about Colonial Van and Storage! Granted my cross country moving experience in the past from another company could not have been worse, I felt extremely at ease with Colonial every step of the way during my move from Reno, NV to Miami, FL. They don’t do quotes over the phone-someone comes to your house to visually see what is being shipped and give you an accurate quote which is based upon weight and given to you right then. Pick up team was professional and prompt. They weigh the empty truck before they come and weigh it after they pick up and then adjust your price accordingly if need be. I have never heard of a mover lowering the price because they are moving less than expected. However, my load was 1,000 lbs less than quoted and they reduced the price accordingly. This is when I knew I was dealing with a legitimate operation. The long distance driver was in communication every day after commencing the drive so I had accurate location information for my belongings. They also pick up the phone and give you updates whenever you request them (the company I dealt with in the past never picked up the phone once they had half the money and all of my stuff). Char was extremely polite and sweet in every interaction I had with her. No money upfront before pick up or at pick up. None of this “half now, half on delivery” nonsense. Pay with credit card the day before delivery or cashiers check to the driver on delivery. Definitely recommend.

Never use a company that does quotes over the phone or requires half the payment upfront.”

“I get my raw dog food delivered by GLS for the past 2 years. I live in the VC Highlands so it's not always the easiest place to get to depending on the weather. They always try very hard to make sure I get my packages on time. Today I had a delivery of food that I really needed 11/22/23 because I was getting low and it was Thanks Giving weekend. I knew if it didn't come today I might run out. I waited all day because the website said it was out for delivery but the sun went down and I was sure it wasn't going to happen. When low and behold 8:00 at night in the pitch blackness, the GLS driver dropped off my needed packages. Thank you GLS you guys rock!”
