“In November 2021, I purchased the Benchmark 6250 Generator from Magnetic Hill Home Hardware specifically for running my sump pump during power outages as my basement is prone to flooding. I chose this model because it came with electric start and remote. I’m not strong enough to start it with the pull cord.Anytime I tried to start it, I could never get it running until battery had a charger put on it. I would be able to start it with electric start after removing charger and assumed the battery was being drained with the freezing temps. I don’t own my own charger and didn’t think I would need one when I bought the generator because it was supposed to be a “really good one”.Thursday February 17th, with the impending rain and wind, I had a friend charge it up for me, it started with the remote no problem and I thought I’d be alright when the power went out Friday morning. I went out to start it up, nothing!! After several tries with the pull cord, it finally started up but only lasted a few seconds. In the meantime my basement is taking in water at a rapid rate. Luckily my sister is also my neighbour and has the same model generator. She had purchased hers from SALISBURY HOME HARDWARE and was having issues getting hers started shortly after buying it so she contacted SALISBURY HOME HARDWARE. They didn’t hesitate to come and pick hers up and take it to get it running properly and had returned it to her in excellent working condition. Friday morning in the wind and rain, we ran extension cords across the field from her working generator to my sump pump. By then the water had risen to 4” throughout my basement and the damage was already done.I decided enough was enough and got on the phone to Magnetic Hill Home Hardware after they opened and explained my situation. I was told I would have to contact Benchmark for any warranty work. I was devastated, frustrated and in tears. How was I possibly going to load my generator into my car to take it for service?? I then called SALISBURY HOME HARDWARE, As soon as Jeff said he was on his way, I could feel my anxiety drain and I am so grateful to SALISBURY HOME HARDWARE for looking after me, they didn’t hesitate to come and pick up my generator to see what the problem was. It was returned to me same day with a new, more efficient battery and starts up no problem now whenever I try it.Thanks Jeff and crew @SALISBURY HOME HARDWARE, I honestly can’t thank you enough for showing such compassion when it wasn’t even your issue to rectify. Heroes don’t always wear capes!”
