About State Line Lookout, Palisades Interstate Park Commission
State Line Lookout at Palisades Interstate Park offers visitors stunning views of the Hudson River and New York City skyline from several overlooks. The park features a 1-mile easy walk on a concrete road, along with various trails starting at the top and lower areas, making it a good spot for a peaceful, short trip to unwind. It’s pet-friendly, but visitors should check their dogs for fleas and insects before getting in the car, and bring insect repellent due to the area being incredibly buggy. The park is suitable for picnics, with multiple picnic areas available, although benches are limited, so bringing seating is recommended. Parking is plentiful and affordable, with the first hour often free and parking costing just a few cents per hour via mobile app. On busy weekends, parking may be crowded with long lines, but overall, the location is worth the visit. Visitors should note that the on-site café might be closed during certain times, and there are no many amenities. For those seeking more adventurous activities, there are challenging hikes involving steep stairs and large rocks, which can take several hours and require plenty of water and bug spray. Overall, State Line Lookout is a beautiful, peaceful place to enjoy nature and panoramic views, especially on sunny days.
It was a good place to see ice pieces floating down the Hudson.

The perfect oasis on a long drive up the East coast. The summer camp trading post feel brings an element of cozy most rest stops wouldn't even dream of.

Beautiful must see! Watch your kids!! There are large stone barriers but it’s a long drop on the other side. Chilly in the winter - bring gloves!
