She took the time to listen to every detail, answer my questions, and reassure me throughout the entire process. “Nick at J&M is incredible, and it’s an understatement to say I shop here because of him. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of plants, including native plants, and he can answer even the most nuanced and complex questions with ease. Though it’s tempting to believe our computers can do all our landscape architecture for us, I can affirm that ChatGPT doesn’t know what Nick knows. He can tell me exactly what is going on with various growers, issues that have strained production, patterns of larger companies, when plants are expected to restock, etc. His deep industry relationships are an invaluable tool for understanding how and when I can landscape my property.

Speaking of relationships, he is easy to speak and work with because he is kind-hearted, nonjudgmental and low ego. Whether you are an expert gardener or completely new to it and anxiously arriving feeling clueless, he will never make you feel stupid, and I can guarantee he will give you sage advice. When Fred Rogers said look for the helpers, he was talking about Nick. There just aren’t enough people like him in the world, and I feel so lucky that we have him right here in Madison.”
