The Beloved Goldendoodle has a couple of their toys, and his current BFF is a crocodile (we have named him Lyle, in case anyone remembers the children's book from years ago about Lyle the Crocodile living in NYC) that has had a bit too much love. I noticed that he currently has a mangled ear, and figured I would buy a couple of new ones; unfortunately, I didn't see "Lyle" anywhere on HH's website (I thoroughly checked it twice). I sent an email to customer service with a photo to see if he was still available, and received a reply first-thing the following morning from Beth; sadly, he has been discontinued, but she located a vendor for me and a few new crocodiles will be arriving soon (which will be known as Lyle, Lyle and Lyle). HH's toys are terrific, they have a lot of them as college mascots, and when they get really gross you can toss them in the wash. 5 Stars for Beth as well for the quick reply, she obviously understands that this was a toy emergency.

Mutts On Main - Cafe, Retail, Self Wash & Grooming
20 1st Avenue, DenvilleOur experience with Mutts on Main Grooming started very positively. We began bringing our two dogs, Coco and Valentino, in February 2026 after moving to New Jersey from Michigan. Both are now 13 years old and have been groomed monthly since puppyhood. I always explain their history and let the groomer know that, although they can be anxious, they are accustomed to grooming and generally do well.
We scheduled monthly appointments for the entire year, hoping we had finally found a good fit for both dogs. For the first several months, everything went well. Unfortunately, Valentino began experiencing occasional diarrhea during appointments in July, August, and October.
I apologized each time and tipped accordingly. I initially suspected treats or stress and tried to minimize potential digestive upset, including giving him a calming supplement. During the October appointment, the groomer sent me a photo because she was concerned about a blue item in his stool. I explained that he sometimes chews on puppy pads, which was likely what she had seen. Less than an hour into the appointment, I was asked to pick up both dogs.
I understand that cleaning up after an accident is unpleasant, and I never expected the groomer to ignore the situation. I was concerned, too, about why it kept happening. Diarrhea can have medical causes, particularly in senior dogs, and anxiety is only one possible explanation.
I also wonder whether Valentino was experiencing stress from the new environment. In Michigan, he had the same groomer every month, providing consistency and familiarity. Since our move, he hasn't always had the same handler. The grooming area is toward the back of the store, shielded from view by refrigerators. I don't know whether the presence of other dogs, unfamiliar sounds, or smells contributed to his stress, but these are possible factors worth considering.
When I picked them up in October, I suggested a compromise: continuing Coco's regular grooming while bathing Valentino at home and bringing him in only for nail trims. The groomer agreed. I appreciate that she indicated she had made several attempts to help Valentino feel more comfortable, and I was willing to handle his bathing myself. Nevertheless, I ultimately decided to cancel future appointments for both dogs and seek another alternative where their individual needs might be better accommodated.
I believe this experience highlights the value of Fear Free education and low-stress handling, particularly when working with anxious senior pets. These approaches help groomers recognize signs of fear and stress and consider adjustments such as consistent handling, additional breaks, positive reinforcement, or reducing environmental stressors. Fear Free training cannot resolve every situation, and a groomer's responsibility to protect the safety of pets and staff must come first. However, it provides additional tools for working collaboratively with owners to identify possible solutions.
I don't blame the groomer for an accident occurring, and I recognize that she made an effort. My disappointment is that we ultimately did not find a workable solution for both dogs. I would have welcomed a more collaborative discussion about potential stressors and adjustments that might have made Valentino's experience more manageable.
It's unfortunate because our experience began so positively, and I had hoped we had found a place where both dogs could continue receiving the care they need. At 13 years old, Coco and Valentino deserve patience, compassion, and individualized care. Senior pets' needs can change, and continued education in low-stress handling can make a meaningful difference in their comfort and well-being.

The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that one of their employees can come across as rude. Most of the staff are fantastic, and the groomers are always kind, caring, and do an amazing job with our dog. Improving customer service would make the experience even better.

98 Ford Road, DenvilleFive stars is not enough for Dr. Aromando and his staff at TCVS. I have been using their services for almost 14 years and have had nothing but the best experiences with my personal horses as well as the many horses I manage at a large boarding and training facility. Both Raychel and Caitlin are beyond amazing in the office (and when they’ve been on the road!) and have helped me when I’ve been in a pinch. Dr. Aromando is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and ethical. He can be flexible if I need to change an appointment last minute and he will always arrive promptly and keep me updated. In the 14 years I have been using him I have never had to worry that I will be left high and dry as he is always quick to respond and get here when needed. Under his care and guidance my HYPP positive horse has gone from unmanageable symptomatically/needing veterinary intervention frequently to healthy and virtually symptom free. Dr. A was willing to think outside of the box and go above and beyond when my 30 year old retired Warmblood had a chronic cellulitis that would not respond to conventional treatments. Preventative care, long term wellness, and effective communication during high stress emergencies are the heart of Dr. Aromando and the staff of TCVS. I would not trust anyone else with the veterinary care of my equines!

60 Diamond Spring Rd, DenvilleCafe Metro in Denville is a place I've had bookmarked for quite a while as somewhere I need to get to. I've also had friends recommend it, so I was very happy that my wife and I had an opportunity to have dinner there last night. This is a relatively small restaurant right in the heart of Denville with indoor and outdoor seating. On a Wednesday night it was relatively quiet and we didn't need a reservation. The menu is really varied with lots of different options, many on the healthy side. We started off by sharing an appetizer of Chicken Lemongrass Dumplings. These were delicious with a nice spice to them. For entrees, my wife had the chicken and eggplant and I had almond encrusted salmon. Both were very good, if I had to order again, I would have chosen my wife's dish instead. That said, the salmon served with mashed potatoes and spinach was still very good. Prices are very reasonable. Parking is easy with a lot nearby. Denville is one of my favorite towns and Cafe Metro will be a place I'll be coming back to!

5 East Main Street, DenvilleBeen here twice and had a great time with both. I mainly sit at the bar tables and they got a great vibe here. Happy hour is always a great value and the mixup of seasonal cocktails means you often have something new to try, pair that with food and your in for a good cozy night out. Highly recommend and Dan and Caitlyn in the bar are fantastic and the whole staff is so attentive and ready to help!
