“I stopped by simply to browse for a quick visit. This store has all the classic candy from my childhood. Sweet treats that I haven’t seen in years is available at Economy Candy.
It was crowded and everyone seemed to be in a jubilant mood because of the environment they were in. A visit to a candy store like this can trigger fond memories of your childhood.

“This place has internationally sourced gummy type candies. I ended up getting about 1 lb of different types. I will say my favorites were all the so u r ones! I did go into the store thinking these were Swedish candies and i was slightly disappointed when they didnt have the marshmallow-y type of candy. Either way I very much enjoyed my selections!”

“Mike’s is the perfect mattress store for someone who wants a quality-mattress at a fair price from a kind and knowledgable business-owner. I was able to pick out a quality mattress in 20 minutes today without anything but comfortable conversation and assistance (no awkward questions or up-selling like many places). Mike’s is a small place which makes the most of its square footage by filling it with as many options it can fit. Mike was able suggest a mattress based on our stated preferences, take it down to let us lay on it/try it out, and get it out to my SUV with ease. He offered to deliver it if needed, but that was unnecessary because he was able to position it for me with notable experience. If you want to buy a competitively-priced mattress that you can actually see and touch without a big production/hassle, I highly recommend Mike and Mike’s Mattresses.”
“The gentleman behind the counter was very nice, knowledgeable and quick explaining pricing. Offered a free sample as we walked through the door to all of us. Was able to tell me what the best sellers are but I chose, Raspberry-Blackberry and Salted caramel bark. Both were amazing. Got 3 truffles as well but would definitely go back to try more bark if I had to choose.”
“Biggie's is great! The owners are super lovely and run it themselves. Their dog, Biggie, is super cute. Often there's people playing chess outside- it's pretty rad.
Inside is a vintage lovers paradise, or more specifically, a vintage smokers dream. They specialize in refurbishing old lighters, ash trays, and smoking sets. Trust me, they're awesome. If you're not a smoker, they have old magazines, game sets, and old-style soda. If you'd like to become a smoker but are scared, they have candy cigarettes. Sick!
Anyway, I like to pop by whenever I'm in the neighborhood. You should pop in, too.”

“If you’re anywhere near Bleecker Street, you have to stop by Porto Rico Importing Co. This place feels like stepping into a piece of New York history. The moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly roasted coffee hits you, it’s incredible.
They have an amazing selection of beans from all over the world, and the staff really knows their stuff. I asked for something smooth but flavorful, and they guided me to the perfect choice. You can tell they genuinely care about quality.
What I love most is the old-school charm and nothing fancy, just authentic, high-quality coffee at great prices. It’s the kind of place that coffee lovers truly appreciate.

“I had my daughter's Bridal Shower at Matisse Chocolatier in Englewood this past weekend and it was a huge success! The owner Lucille, and manager Nija, couldn't have been any nicer, more hospitable, or more helpful throughout the party. It's a GREAT venue for a bridal shower. The bride as well as all the guests absolutely loved the idea of being there for a bridal shower, as it was so different from a typical shower venue. Everyone had so much fun making chocolate, interacting with one another, and of course the chocolate was delicious! I would DEFINITELY recommend Matisse Chocolatiers for your next party, and/or social event.”

“Ray is an East Village celebrity. Originally from Iran, Ray jumped overboard a Navy ship to swim away to a new life in the United States. He started the shop in the 70s and has been around ever since. Even when Ray recently sustained an assault, he went right back to work. This institution offers various soft serve, fries, fried Oreos, hotdogs, chili dogs, egg creams, onion rings. Any number of fried foods one might eat after a drunken soirée. Someone commented on his Instagram page, “no one has seen me drunker than this man.” Most things are 7-10 dollars, though there are a few things that are more expensive, like 16 dollars or so. Pretty sure Ray is cash only. Ray still works the spot. He’s about to turn 91. If you want to see him, get on with it. New York changes all the time. One day you might show up, and Ray will be gone. Don’t miss your chance to experience this icon.”

Best $1+ sandwiches NEXT TO HAAJI'S (Currently Blue Sky Deli on 110th n 1st ave) literally Marys candy store been around for so long I pray they never go out of business !! Literally a staple in the east Harlem community. I have been going here since I was in 6years old in PS 102, I'm so lucky my grandma still live in the area and I now work close by so I can enjoy a treat or 3. “We went to the location in Macy’s Herald St and had the best experience. The kindest service ever and an extremely positive, inclusive vibe. If you want to try any of the lollies, you can simply ask and they will let you and there is a large variety of delicious lollies and snacks with some unique flavours like pickle (which i find to be one of the best flavours/items in the whole store). Definitely will come back for more snacks as it was so yummy and loved the experience.”
