DO NOT TRUST THEM!Customer service representatives are extremely rude and judgmental. I keep having bad experiences. For instance I was scammed at a gas station for $100 and credit union did nothing. Another instance was over the summer I had to get my debit card replaced and it took them an EXTREMELY long time to send my new one (i think it took around 3 weeks). Overall I am extremely disappointed and am looking into joining a new bank.

Was a member of CUNJ for 6+ years, within the last year the closest branch to me (Willingboro) closed and the next closest was 40 minutes away. Because of this I stopped using the account. When I went to close out the account there was an $85 charge for account inactivity which I received no notice for (email, phone, text, letter). I attempted to dispute this with staff who advised that there was nothing I could do. I then went home and called customer service, spoke with a manager and didn’t hear back from CUNJ for a week. Today I reached out again to see what the status of the dispute on this fee was, I was advised that there was nothing that they could do because the account was closed.Outrageous fees, horrible service, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!!!! TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!

I've been with this bank for over 20 years and starting out as a young baker. While going through the ups and downs of the financial parts of my life they have never made me feel uncomfortable or less then. They work with you, offer financial literacy building classes, and great rates better than most. You can go in and speak with anyone about any issue or misunderstanding and there staff has thorough knowledge to help you if they can't they will find somebody who can. They follow up and return phone calls to answer whatever questions you may have and I appreciate that. They truly respect your business. Ive experience nothing but consistent kindness and care. I feel very comfortable taking care of all my financial business with the them and I haven't heard or researched anything thus far negative, far as how they do business or frauds or this and that. if there is something going on.They are right on top of it, quick to investigate and make it right with their customers and I appreciate that.

This is the worst establishment I have ever entered in my entire life. The staff treated my like I was worthless, I waited 4 hours after having my name taken down only to be told my the front receptionist Doris that I have to sign in and wait more hours to be helped. I parked in front of the building at 8:45 and waited to enter at 9:00 am. I’m being told at 1am that I have to wait to be helped. If you value your time and your peace of mind please I implore you please please please take your business elsewhere. This place does not care about their customers in any shape form or fashion and should be put out of business. I simply came to do an auto loan refinancing and I couldn’t be helped after kinky being told to wait. I will be seeking to take further action against this establishment. Thanks for your time, I don’t want any help with resolving the matter. Thanks for wasting my time

Worst customer service ever…. I called to figure out the issue with my account vs what I am seeing on my app each and every person I spoke to explaining my scenario catches an attitude and won’t even make sense of the scenario they just want to talk down to someone and hang up. Then I asked for a supervisor! To be told in a federal credit union there is only 1 manager that is able to talk to customers??? Really?? I’m a big bank like the credit union you only have 1 manager?? I asked to be placed on hold to wait for the manager they refused to do so they just wanted me off the phone regardless if my concerns were taken care of or not. Then I spoke to the supervisor she continuously raised her voice at me then started talking down to me again telling me that she’s going to hang up on me. When I asked for her bosses number she rushed through it started arguing with me again and then when I asked for the extension again she hangs up. I then proceed to call in again just to get that extension so I can speak to upper management. I was hung up on by 3 different people because they refused to give me the same extension I was trying to get 10 mins prior. Why won’t they give a customer a extension that was previously given to them? Seems like they have something to hide! If there’s nothing to hide then why do I have to fight just to get a extension to talk to someone? Seems a bit shady a customer service department would continuously hang up on a customer just for them asking for an extension they were previously offered… take your business else where! I’m currently looking for a new bank that won’t play games with my time or money.

Good luck talking to a real person. Do not do auto payments. I put extra money in account. They took it out on due date AND took another payment three days later.

I had a wonderful experience with loan officer Maria Del Re. She showed empathy regarding my financial situation. Maria walked me through the loan process and I was approved for a small emergency loan. I will always bank with the CUNJ. Thank you again Maria.Tanisha Hamilton

I am very disappointed with this credit union. I wish I would have read the reviews before opening a business account. It is the most unprofessional bank that I've ever interacted with. You cannot speak to a representative no matter how many times you call. Waiting for someone to call you back is eternal and there is no personable connection between the banker and client while seeking service. This is not good business practice.

Had an appointment with Tammy in the Ewing branch. Showed up to the appointment on time. My wife and I was made aware that she actually accepted someone right before we came in despite our appointment at that exact time. Tammy never addressed us or apologized for running into our appointment time. Waited for her for 20 minutes and still was never addressed by her while waiting in the area directly in front her office. After her client left she still never addressed us while waiting, also walking past us more than once. This was very disrespectful and my first time at this business. Doubt I will return.

Yesterday my brother and myself traveled a distance to settle my sister’s account who is recently deceased. We had all of the proper legitimate documents. We were treated horribly and the reason that Ms. Nykisha gave for not closing my sister’s account was ludicrous and I must say very unprofessional. By the time we finished speaking to other management I have to say my brother and myself feel discriminated against and during a time when we are grieving our sister’s loss is very unfortunate. We will be following up on this matter! One last comment Ms. NyKisha some advice pursue another profession because customer service is not for you. Very poor customer service that we received.

An employee named Crystal reversed two $30 courtesy fees that I incurred on my checking account when I accidently transferred money from my checking account to a Fidelity account and briefly went negative on my CUNJ account balance.$60 may not seem like much but trust me, when you're retired, it's a hard hit. I feel like even a few years ago, CUNJ would have denied my appeal. They seem to have gotten much better about treating long-term account holders with heart. A shout-out to Crystal for one of the few positive experiences I've had at CUNJ since opening my account 20 years ago. I'll never forget what she did for me.

It isn't COVID anymore. I want things the way they were. When you were able to do a simple walk-in and ask to be seen and wait in line. Any other bank I can simply Walk in and a banker would help me with any loan or Issue I maybe having. You come to Credit Union they wanna give you an availability. They work for the people it's not the other way around. Do better Credit Union.

I bank with Credit Union of New Jersey and am very displeased with their service pertaining to loans. I refinanced a vehicle with the institution and would have been out-pocketd $8000.00 over the period of the loan, had I not eventually paid attention to my bank statements. They were charging me $102.00 for auto insurance on the vehicle that was provided to them at time of purchasing the vehicle. A couple weeks after the purchase of the vehicle, the Credit Union requested the vehicle insurance once again. At that point in time, I called my insurance company and gave them the information for them to email my auto insurance information. My insurance representative took care of the matter. Nonetheless, I became aware, almost a year later that the Credit Union was deducting $102 monthly for auto insurance, thus increasing my monthly payment. Within the 12 month period they charged me $1,297.00, which included surcharge. Not once did they provide an insurance card to me for proof of insurance that they were charging me for.Additionally, the initial interest rate for the vehicle was 3.99%. However, the Credit Union tried to increase my rate to 4.25% against the agreed upon rate. They are very dishonest, so buyers, BE AWARE. I was appraised of the knowledge that they subcontract out services to Third-party organizations which ultimately is leading them down the wrong pathway.

Horrible experience for a simple task of refinancing my car. Applied in August, did not come to fruition until November. They improperly opened and closed an account in my name.They put me on 90 no payment plan after I requested not to and it inadvertently dropped my credit score 100 . Calling them is nearly impossible. Customer service is a waste of time. Extremely unhappy with there service

I can't understand the reviews and low rating for CUNJ. We've been banking with them for 30 years and have been very satisfied. We've gotten loans for 2 cars with no problem. Anytime I need to go into the bank, tellers and others have been friendly and helpful. There is a long wait for a teller at times, however, they are opening other branches so this may help. Whenever I've needed customer service, I've made an appointment and have been taken within minutes. Their website is outstanding: easy to use, many helpful options for bill pay, mobile deposit, statements, etc.. When I've needed a new debit card or help with something else, customer service on the phone is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
