Austin is a fine Teacher! Knowledgeable and compassionate.I attended a workshop focused on the Pelvic Floor. Austin was generous with his knowledge of alignment, as well as Philosophy.

Making a commitment to your yoga practice with Urban Sadhu Yoga is the best gift that you can give yourself. Austin and Bobby have created a community of teachers and combinations of classes that will support your journey. They are fair, consistent and supportive. I've only had positive experiences with the team at Urban Sadhu and continue to recommend them to anyone that want to be welcomed into a holistic experience with amazing leaders and teachers. Thank you for your support throughout the years Austin and Bobby!

I have experienced several studios in the jersey city area but none as comprehensive and Urban Sadhu. Much more than a workout class, especially the open and fundamental classes. I would encourage everyone to take the fundamentals, even if they have practiced prior as it is an excellent introduction to the style that is taught and a good review in general. It was so important for me to learn the why and how vs just following and lead. Urban Sadhu has a strong sense of community and a supportive group of teachers. They offer a wide variety of classes at two super convenient locations in Jersey City.Austin is an incredible teacher. He is understanding and all about getting the details right, but all the other teachers and wonderful as well. I totally recommend if you are searching for more!

I moved to Jersey City without knowing anyone or anything here. I had an intention on doing new client specials at all of the yoga studios to see if I could find 'the right fit'I started with Urban Sadhu and found much resonance in community, instructors and philosophy such that I ended my search.Bob is the nicest person on earth.Austin is an extremely pleasant and helpful instructor. The practice he has developed at Urban Sadhu is just so different than fitness first oriented studios and the consistency in his method has allowed me to grow. Prior to Urban Sadhu, I didn't attempt headstand, but I feel supported and safe enough to have developed a headstand practice.Echo is also an incredible instructor -- I've taken her Mandarin express class after memorizing the express class and it was incredible to do it with her in a different language. That's the cool thing about this studio: the practice is consistent. All of the instructors give the most incredible adjustments, especially Steph and Amy, and this is the best studio I've ever experienced.Austin and Bob have done a great job building a community.Thank you, Urban Sadhu!

Wonderful yoga classes that integrate meditation and philosophical teachings along with the physical training. The people are lovely and truly care about their students. I’m so happy I found a place that honors the spiritual roots of yoga and is not just rushing you through the motions. Their studio space is calming, beautiful, and never feels cramped even when it’s a full class. Highly recommended if you’re looking to strengthen yourself both physically and mentally.

I returned to the studio after sustaining a major injury. I was a mess, physically/emotionally. They helped me back to an even stronger version of me.Bobby and Austin have created a space and experience that feels like home. IT IS my second home in Jersey City. The instructors are lovely and invested in me, in us.Even better, the teachings and topics coupled with the physical practice effect and encourage true peace in the world. How lucky are we. Thanks, Bobby and Austin! Grateful. Please keep going. ?

I have never left a review here before but I feel moved to expressed the unacceptable behavior that Austin exhibited during my class. About 15-20 minutes into class, I blinked my eyes for a second after felt my contacts drying out, which is something I periodically do throughout the day. Austin began to clap loudly at me and yelled "Open your eyes! Open your eyes! Hey, what are you doing?" He continued to yell at me, even though I had opened my eyes. I was particularly shocked because I was literally only blinking to moisten my contacts, but I believe that this reaction would have been unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. He seemed to have been personally offended by this incident, because he began to meticulously police me and single me out the rest of class. He corrected me for any small mistake in my stances with a level of vitriol and irritation that made me feel deeply unwelcome, starting his critiques by saying "What are you doing?" instead of pointing out how I could improve. For the last half of class, I was so afraid that he would yell at me or see that I was crying that I kept my head down, which, ironically, he then yelled at me for.To be clear, I welcome corrections from teachers in classes - especially yoga since it's a practice that l'm trying to improve in. I played competitive soccer throughout college so I'm fairly immune to feedback that's a bit rough around the edges, but Austin's comments felt much closer to bullying than constructive feedback. His words and behavior towards me made me feel small.I'm disappointed that someone so clearly lacking in tact and empathy has been given the chance to lead classes. Yoga is just as much a practice of the mind as it is the body, and Austin has some work to do on the former if uses his power as an instructor to single out and condescend to students. (If you’re looking for a rough idea of what I mean, see how other negative reviews are addressed on here — I get the impression that Austin is probably in charge of that.) The last thing that we need from yoga classes is a greasy white dude in culturally appropriated clothing being a bully to beginner students.Aside from Austin being a total jerk, everything about the class was great — the space is beautiful and the other students were super friendly. Echo is also a great instructor! I wish her well in her journey to becoming a yoga teacher.

Urban Sadhu is a mini retreat for your mind and body. I love the hands on feedback I get from the instructors. They have enough classes during the week that I am able to make it a regular practice. Being a part of this studio has been so beneficial for my mental and physical health.

The vibe is so legit! It's not a HIT class disguised as yoga.... it's what true yoga should be. The flows are fantastic, the music is progressive & interesting. And even tho the teaching are based on ancient material, the messages are easily applied to modern day life. The studio is clean and zen. And the teachers are hand on to make sure you're not doing something to hurt your body.

I started out my practice at home and have been to a couple other studios, but Urban Sadhu is the first place I've been that covers every aspect of yoga and really cares about making sure its students are understanding the fundamentals. They give time to practice more advanced poses during the open classes too, which I have never experienced before. Every teacher has been amazing and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to improve and grow in their yoga practice!

I had an amazing experience at the aerial yoga class! The instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the class, which was great because it was my first time and I wasn't sure what to do. The front desk staff was also very beneficial and provided me with all the information I needed. I have to mention how spotless and peaceful the place was, which added to the overall experience. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try aerial yoga!

I’ve been practicing yoga for about two months here. I strongly recommend because I have improved yoga skill a lot. Before I came here, I went another yoga studios and practiced at home by myself. It was okay. But after I came here I noticed that I have no basic knowledge of yoga. l have taken several fundamental classes here and I’ve learn what is the correct way to breath, to pose, and where to weigh on to my body. I have given them in deep and sincere appreciation.

Austin was my first yoga teacher and have been going to urban sadhu for some time. Different teachers have different styles, and the good thing is it can serve different styles and needs. Whether physical, spiritual or beginner/intermediate , they have different classes and teachers that can meet your needs. They also have special events that can be cool to go to and partake in.

Great studio with a very friendly staff and excellent teachers. There are a variety of classes for every level. The aerial yoga class was especially fun. The studio is clean and in a great location.
