βHarbor freight is a great place to go buy inexpensive tools for your project or parts for your car, etc. I actually went this time to purchase a gift certificate for my niece's husband for his birthday. It's a great gift for somebody who is mechanically inclined. I know he loved it. I often go there and purchase things for myself. I'm a big do-it-yourselfer so there's always something that I need and they have it.β
βThis is a real hardware store. Packed with inventory, clearly they've put all available funds into what you need. Not merely friendly, they're jovial. A fun and chatty visit and yes I found what I needed.β

βIf you are delivering as a semi driver, there is a warehouse across the street from their store. The dock is off the street down by Mt Prospect Ave. They will help you back in.β
βAce is great for hardware and tools for homeowners. They also have outdoor goods for your home and all your grilling needs. This location in particular is always a pleasant experience. Everyone there is super kind and helpful and helps me find what I need. Don't sleep on Ace. If you need some hardware or a tool nearby, or just want to look around, you can't go wrong with Ace.β

βAs a new homeowner, I am not very handy at all. Was not sure even sure what to do with a snowblower I was given (does this thing even work? how do I turn it on?)From the very first call, this place went above and beyond. Debbie called me at least 5 times to coordinate pickup and drop off (due to my busy travel schedule)- she was super flexible, informative, and understanding of my needs- and she left so much important detail in her messages to me. For example, I had to suddenly go into the city on the scheduled drop off date, and she found a way to get my drop off scheduled for the next day so I could be there for it- and she also coordinated with the delivery tech to make sure he stopped to show me how to actually use the machine. She did this with minimal contact with me as I was in meetings all day.The tech that picked up and dropped off the snowblower gave me extremely detailed instructions on how to use the machine as was well as tips to take care of it and avoid future issues. Either Debbie told him I had no idea what I was doing, or he could just sense it from my questions- but he did a great job of giving me dumbed down instructions without being condescending or making me feel like an idiot.My experience from my first call to payment and receipt of my machine was exceptional and painless. I was listened to, prioritized, and treated with kindness and respect. I will be using them again for any equipment needs, and recommend you do too- especially if you are intimidated by machines/equipment/are not handy.β
βSkip shopping at big corporates and go to Bartell! I canβt say enough good things about this store! With a major snowstorm coming, I called asking if they had any salt in their inventory and there was, and the owner saved me the last bag (without me asking). To top it off, the staff graciously helped load it into my car so I could get home safely. This is exactly why itβs so important to shop localβyou just donβt get this kind of thoughtful, proactive service anywhere else. Highly recommend!β
βBeen there many times before since it is located down the street from my house. Took my lawn mower there since it wasn't working for some reason, and upon explanation, the store worker determined it was my carburetor. Also offered to sharpen my lawn mower blade since I had never done it before. Within a week, I received my lawn mower again and it has been working as intended. Paid a reasonable price for the service. I have also gotten other items and supplies for projects around my house and the workers there are helpful if I'm looking for something specific.β

βI'm glad I used Google to find this location. My husband only want to use Benjamin Moore paint and this location has the paint and all the extras that you will need. I parked in the front but there is even more parking spaces in the back. The staff was friendly. The lady that helped me did everything from getting the paint, ringing me up and even brought the two 5 gallons of paint directly to the car and placed them inside ?. She lifted the gallons up effortlessly.
When I got home I thought I could do the same thing.
No!
My neighbors Ring camera probably recorded my struggle. ? I will let the contractor remove the remaining gallon from the car.β
βI went to get a 2-ton Jack I asked two people to help me they pointed me in a direction that the Jack was not there a third person heard me talking about the jack they went above and beyond to find the jack for me I really appreciate it that man's service it's been a long time since I've seen somebody try to help like that man did I believe he was a manager if not he should beβ
