“The first time I shot at Rock Island was back in 2014, and since then, they've become known as one of the best lakeside wedding venues in New Jersey for their beautiful setting and exemplary service. Nestled in the woods away from any main highways, Rock Island feels like a private oasis, perfect for a medium-sized wedding of 125 to 200 guests. The top suite has a gorgeous view of the lake and great window light with plenty of space, while the bottom suite comes stocked with video game consoles and retro fridges full of retro drinks, plus easy access to the lake if you'd rather hang outside. The ceremony location right on the beach is simple but beautiful, and portrait opportunities are everywhere: the dock, the balcony, the woods, the beach, a rowboat, even an indoor rotunda. That rotunda does double duty during the reception too, acting as an extension of the space where dessert is served and guests can spend time together without necessarily being on the dance floor. And then there's the cocktail hour, my personal favorite of any venue on this list. Cocktail hour stations include barbecue, tailgate, sushi, a raw bar, a chafing station, tacos, pasta, and more: the options go on and on. I love shooting at Rock Island because of the lake, the woods, the cocktail hour, and most importantly, the staff. Everyone there treats every bride, groom, guest, and vendor like family, and I've experienced that both as a photographer and as a guest. Their service is top-notch, every single time.”
