“Ok, I'm going to give it 4 stars right now, ONLY because of the improvements I've seen there recently. Someone's REALLY stepping it up at this location!! The shelves have been more stocked then I've seen, SINCE THE DOORS OPENED! There's been a LARGER SELECTION OF ITEMS and things have been REMAINING ON THE SHELVES, for longer than just a few days.... I really hope this lasts! I already overheard positive comments coming from other customers that were shopping. Also noticed NEW staff members, MORE staff members and ones with better attitudes then some of the previous ones. Before it seemed like most of them barely wanted to work, let alone do anything extra.....
I don't really like saying anything bad about the store, even when it wasn't doing it's best because I really like Dollar Tree and hate to think, one mishap of a location could have such a negative effect on people's experience... I'm trying to give ONLY my fair and honest opinion about everything. For starters, it isn't in the best location. Some may not know, but it's right smack in the middle of a get high/drug area, so the people frequenting nearby, are lots of times, in desperate need of money to get high, which then turns into theft. That's why the shelves were often so bare. As soon as they'd get fresh stock, within days it would be ransacked and emptied. Seemed nobody cared to keep up with it, but they HAVE to find SOME WAY, to tackle that issue!! Anyway, I hope this newer version is here to stay, so the store can become a positive experience, rather than a negative one for us shoppers!!

“I go here regularly and occasionally chat with a few of the employees at length (when it's not busy)because they are very friendly! Great deals, especially on Saturday. And great prices with a large selection, as well as a few things you may not expect. Generally pretty clean as well. I do enjoy this Dolly Gen, I'm glad it is conveniently located.”

“I do agree that this place needs more security. I have witnessed individuals steal underwear and other products.However, this place is nice to shop at for quick snacks or laundry products. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have never came across someone who was rude or unprofessional to my family or I.”
“They are always ready for the holidays. Plus they have all the smaller things that you need at home. Very well stocked at times. Their security services is embarrassing to the neighborhood. Just because you're in and urban areas doesn’t mean, that you should treat those living there worst than you treat customers elsewhere. I watched their sales manager,and security guard mistreating a woman. They wrongly accused her of stealing. I watched the woman bring the item in the store with her. She held it up so everyone could see that it came in with her. She was than charged for the item and she was very angry and told them. To keep both the money and the item. “I am not a crook she kept saying”. She kept asking them to call the police and the manager refused to do so. It was a terrible experience. Other than this the store is okay. Sometimes I stop in here before going to the big supermarket. I found many items here cheaper than the supermarket. Yes, the expiration dates were good. The food sales out of here quickly. So I suggest that you get here early. But beware if you don’t plan on spending a lot of money. The only way that won’t happen. Is if you don’t take all your money with you. You’ll come here for one item and leave out of here with far more. The store is great they just need better customer service and better managers. Very unprofessional behavior at this store.”
“Honestly never thought I would find a decent family dollar store in Newark, NJ but I was shocked to discover how well stock, clean the store was and most of all how well mannered the staff are. And it honestly starts with the manager, she seems young in age but she leads her team excellently.”
“i came here a few times a week with my son. The staff are pretty cool but have to deal with unruly customer's at times after all this is Newark. Leaving 1 star review because google says they close at a certain time is stupid why not ask the actual store when they close.”

“Always well stocked. Great employees. If you go around 6pm. Expect a bit of a wait for cashier. Store seems to be busy around this time. Cashier handles the crowd and rings up folks quickly.”
