About New Community Harmony House
Harmony House is a transitional housing program that provides stability and support to families facing homelessness. With the capacity to house 102 families in individual apartment units and a range of on-site social services, Harmony House aims to help families move from dependency to self-sufficiency. Referrals to the program come from various local agencies, including the Essex County Division of Family Assistance and Benefits, the City of Newark Office of Homeless Services, and the Essex County Coordinated Entry for Permanent Supportive Housing. Residents praise the dedicated staff, who go above and beyond to assist families in need. The program has received positive feedback, with one reviewer describing it as a "great place to utilize to get back on your feet." Community organizations, such as Ebenezer Baptist Church, also collaborate with Harmony House, providing hot meals, non-perishable items, and other resources to support the residents, particularly the younger ones.
