Joy of Grooming
274 Spring St #1, NewtonThe only groomer I go to. Joy is the best groomer she takes the time to make sure your fur baby is happy and squeaky clean. Now my fur baby is well difficult to get into the tub if you have ever seen SpongeBob trying to give Gary the snail a bath…..that’s basically bath time, yet with joy right in the tub like it’s his job.

Canine Clips By Karen
698 US-206, NewtonI wish I could give 10 stars! My golden retriever, Izzie, had a grooming appointment with Karen the other day where she let us know she noticed some swollen lymph nodes in Izzie’s legs and neck. We immediately took her to the vet and turns out, our sweet girl has lymphoma 🥺. Outside of her grooming capabilities (she always does a fantastic job and is very reasonably priced), Karen very obviously cares about the animals she works with and their wellbeing. I’m eternally grateful because who knows when it would have been caught otherwise. I can’t thank her enough!

Pet Care

Animal Hospital of Sussex County
169 Hampton House Rd, NewtonThe office is clean, the personnel friendly and efficient, the doctors understanding, helpful and very personable and pleasant. We've seen several docs, and they have helped our aging dog feel comfortable and feel better. Such a relief knowing they are there for her as needed.

Turner Wendy DVM
243 Newton Sparta Rd, NewtonShout out to Dr. Wendy Turner Andover Animal Hospital. We have used Dr Turner as our Vet for several years. Her compassion and expertise has been remarkable over the last few years of our aging pets and our new additions. I called at 9:00 pm hoping to leave a message. She recognized my number and called me after hours after a 9 hour shift and being the on call vet today.

Newton Veterinary Hospital
62 Hampton House Rd, NewtonThis weekend, we regrettably had to say goodbye to our beloved family dog of 17 years. Our parents were out of town and this was my brother and I's first pet, so we were devastated and struggled emotionally and mentally with how to put our boy to rest on such short notice. My brother was especially unable to function, as the entire operation rested on his shoulders and none of us could help him.
I called ahead to ask about the euthanasia options and the customer service rep was very patient with me, as I struggled to put together my words, and when my brother arrived, the staff was so kind and patient with us as we went through with letting our sweet baby rest. My brother said the emergency doctor and the vet techs were very kind to him, and our whole family is so grateful for all that the team did for us. We won't soon forget it.

Pet Sitting & Training

Perfect Pooches LLC
16 Grandview Dr, NewtonWe brought our two Golden Retrievers to Tim because they would get so excited to see people that their brains seemed to shut off and all previous training went out the window. It would have been dangerous to take them out in public, although they were pretty well-behaved at home with only our immediate family.
We brought home two well-behaved dogs after an excellent and very thorough lesson on what we needed to continue doing to keep them well-behaved and able to enjoy outings with the family. We were told that the dogs would test us at home and what we needed to do to be encouraged proper behavior.
Tim follows up and encourages you to come back anytime for the lifetime free lessons that came with our two-week boot camp.
We are committed to following his instructions, and things are going very well for us. If we stay disciplined, I’m sure the dogs will as well.

Angry Erik Brewing
2 Camre Dr, NewtonStopped in several times while biking along The Paulinskill Valley Trail and always a solid spot to stay hydrated along the trail. During my most recent visit, started off with a South Island Scoundrel – Hazy IPA - 6.0% (Brewed with Nelson Sauvin & Motueka hops, this IPA has tropical flavors with a smooth white wine essence all packed into a hazy juice bomb!) and finished with a Splatter Pattern – Double IPA - 7.5% (Artfully crafted with 5 hop varieties (Mosaic, Citra, Bru-1, Sabro, & Idaho 7), each sip creates a splatter of flavors: tropical citrus fruit, tangerine and dank pine blend together in a delightful pattern.)
Staff is always friendly and the locals are always welcoming as well.
While I cant fault them, wish they were open more during the week when I do a majority of my riding . Ive passed by this spot many times wishing they were open and realize id be probably be the only person there drinking beer on a Tuesday afternoon. Once again, no fault on there part but more of gripe that I cant drink there more often.
Ive yet to drive there and one day hope to bring back some of there beer. Unfortunately on a bike, its not a smart idea to carry a six pack along the trail.

Newtown Chinese Restaurant
55 Mill St, NewtonTheir food is great. It's basically a take-out only place. They always have fresh rice, their egg rolls and won-ton soup are very tasty, their lunch specials are affordable and generous good food. As a bonus, to be able to see the chefs cooking in the kitchen is always good. Their service is good as they are almost always able to prepare your meal in the time frame they give you. The ambiance is that of a well ordered industrial kitchen. There are several drinks to choose from in their refrigerators. I eat here several times a month if I have the time. Extra parking is available down the hill in the back of the building.
