LACK OF ACCESSIBILITYI went there for the first time ever a couple days ago. The have good selection of women’s clothes, and some baby clothes as well. Furniture section is closed.HOWEVER the elevator is broken. So there’s no way for a person in wheelchair, with physical disability, with stroller, etc go to the other floors which is disappointing. It seems like the issue has been going for a couple months now as per other reviews. It’s a shame they’re not taking into consideration customers who NEED the elevator.

I recently embarked on a thrift store adventure, hoping to snag a hidden gem. Little did I know, I'd stumble upon the enigma of fashion – a no-name jacket with more seams missing than my patience after this experience. This jacket, which could be generously described as "vintage chic," boasted no branding whatsoever. It's like they found it in the back of someone's closet who time-traveled from the '80s and forgot to take the jacket with them. The seams, or what was left of them, resembled a roadmap of frustration. But wait, the real comedy ensued at the checkout counter. The cashier, with a poker face that could rival a professional card player, announced that this masterpiece of the missing-seams movement was priced at a whopping $250. I almost expected a drumroll to accompany that revelation. In shock, I asked if the jacket came with a personal stylist and a guarantee that it grants the wearer the power of invisibility. Alas, the only guarantee was that my wallet would be lighter. The cashier, without missing a beat, claimed that this jacket was a rare find and totally worth the price. I couldn't help but wonder if it also came with a side of unicorn tears.Needless to say, I left the store empty-handed, my dreams of thrifted treasures shattered like the seams on that overpriced jacket. Dear thrift store, you've successfully priced yourself out of my business. Until you start offering discounts for comedic value, consider me a lost customer.

I went here to look for some black pants for work, unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything that fit me. I'm a size 16, I wasn't able to find any parts over size 14. Most were 8 and 10 under. So if you're on the bigger side, I wouldn't be too hopeful about finding clothes here. They have quite a bit of a selection tho, I did find the curtains I was looking for and most prices are good. I saw a lot of clothes for 8 dollars under, and I saw a couple for 40$ plus. Overall a good place to go to for shirts and other miscellaneous stuff. I'll return again when I'm looking to refresh my closet.Edit: yes, it's true nothing is organized by size, only color, so be prepared to sort to the whole rack to find something in your size.

Used to enjoy shopping here. Visited a year later after moving out of town, It’s always well organized, by color not size. Variety of things - If you look you’ll find some stuff you’d wanna take home. Elevator was out of service which was a headache! Running around with a two year old and pregnant up 4 flight of stairs will drain you so prepare yourself. Other than that, you’ll have a good time searching. I’d recommend going weekdays rather than weekends so you can enjoy it more rather than people pushing you out the way. Nice workers ?

Prices are okay not perfect just okay...My only problem is when I buy something thats not clothing like say a fan or game boards im told the sale colors dont apply to those type items. But then on another day a different person tells me they do. So now I just pray im lucky enough to get that same cashier person who seems to know what shes doing. Other than that everyone is polite and very helpful. The store is huge and very clean.

I discovered American Thrift one year ago. It is now my go to place for plastic containers, golf shirts, carrying bags, Pyrex baking dishes, pie pans, and wrapping paper. The selection is varied and always changing. Don't think too much and just buy when you see it because won't be there tomorrow. Workers are productive and always doing something. Highly recommended place if you need something and used doesn't matter.

What a horrible experience I had today at American thrift when it comes to their pricing. I had five items from the children department they were labeled at $.99 and they wouldn't allow me to purchase them at that price. I was told that that I was not able to buy them because the manager wasn't on site to override the transaction yet while in front of me they changed the prices on the tickets to $3.99 each.I informed them that the store policy says that the only way you are not able to sell an item as if it does not have a ticket all the items in question had the ticket of $.99 on them. So why wasn’t I allowed to purchase my items? I asked if I could speak to a manager and was told that there wasn’t one on duty. I then asked for a customer service phone number and was told there wasn’t a number. Miraculously upon leaving the store I googled American thrift Passaic and found the phone number and proceeded to call them and spoke to someone else regarding my issues. It was the same person who told me there was no manager one duty and to speak to someone by the name of either Jenny or Hilary. The cashier by the name of Nelly was the one that changed the price in front of me. Tampering with the evidence. Enclosing my argument is that there is a sign behind the cash registers that clearly states that if there is no tag you have to come back the next day so that the item can be retag if you're interested in purchasing my only issue is my items did have a tag and I needed a manager to override it yet when they adjusted the prices in their favor there was no manager that was there to approve the price that they added onto it have $3.99 instead of $.99.

I called and asked for a play pen. I was told they might have some but I need to come and look to make sure. I walked up to the second floor because the elevator was not working. I drove to Passaic. Nice place but an more accurate answer would have saved me a 7 mile trip. Better training is needed. Had none!

I have been thrifting here for years and used to enjoy it so much more. The selection is huge and unfortunately the prices have skyrocketed. My biggest qualm is that for such a big store, they only have 3 fitting rooms. They recently got rid of most of the mirrors on the floor to prevent people from trying on clothes outside of the dressing room. It seems weird to me that they would want to make it more difficult to shop there. And for a store that's as busy as this one, they should definitely have more dressing rooms. I'm gonna take a break from going there in hopes that it will not be as chaotic of an experience next time I go.

I visited for the first time today and thought it was amazing! I don’t get the negative reviews. The staff was super helpful and friendly. The clothes are arranged by color/similar style & the pricing is great. I found some beautiful pieces! This store will definitely be added to my weekly rotation. Highly recommend!
