Johnson Park is a very nice, big, and clean park with lots of space and beautiful views next to the Raritan. It is a great place to walk, relax, jog, bike ride, or have a picnic. The park offers many facilities including a playground for kids, grill stations, benches, picnic areas with many or limited tables, free parking, and sports areas. People enjoy BBQing, fishing, and throwing get-togethers. It is dog-friendly for walks. The park has restrooms and porta potties around the area, with a restroom located near the playground at Grove 2. Reviews note that the toilets are sometimes clean and open but are sometimes not cleaned recently and can be dirty, with a flush that is hard to press. Visitors are reminded to be careful with hot coals from grills, as throwing them in the regular trash cans can be dangerous. There is also a note for drivers coming from Kilmer Road about a potentially confusing road marking.
