I've been a fan of hardware stores all my life (real one's, not Home Depot n the others). The employees at the big chain places rarely know what they are talking about, no matter how convincing they try to be.
This always leads to multiple return trips, multiple product returns, and wasted time and money. I went through this recently.
After a month of back and forth to multiple places and zero problems being resolved, I finally decided to go to Kens Hardware (20+ miles away).
Frank Kenny took the time and care to understand exactly what I needed. He then he took the time to customize a solution for me and gather the various parts needed. Afterwards he gave me instructions on how to make it all work. This place is the best.
No other hardware store will go to the lengths that Kens does, and certainly no big chain place has any employees with even a tenth of the knowledge needed to legitimately help the average customer coming through the door, no matter how much they act like they know what they're talking about.

Kens hardware is a great place to go to everyone is very knowledgeable an knows you when you walk through the door, they have everything other big chains don't have, they are very helpful, thank you for your service putting your customer base family first

Just visited Kent’s hardware store and was assisted by Dana. It was a pleasure to be helped by Dana and she provided all I needed. I walked around and picked up a few additional things I needed. I love supporting small businesses they need our support! I’m from Brooklyn and it brought me back to my local hardware stores.

Best hardware store in the Tom's River area. I gave up going to the large home supply stores (HD & L). At Ken's, their staff is super knowledgeable, friendly, and always available to help you. They tend to have everything I'm looking for tools and projects around the house. Highly recommend. So glad they are local to me.

Frank Kenny saved my $#% today! This place is a godsend. Big box may have more stuff but for the person just trying to fix something this is the ONLY place to go.They have helped me fix small problems for years. My only complaint is that there are only five stars to give...
