City Fresh Market, we need to have a talk. Nothing terrible, nothing tense, but a sincere, heart to heart, one on one. Holding hands. I am new to Union City. I lived in nearby Jersey City for 20 years, but house hunting brought me here, and I so far, love it. I love being steps away from Bergenline Avenue and where I can pick and choose markets to buy my produce and fish from. You could not ask for a better place to live in. Now, I get it. The rent is high. Prices are through the roof. However, how can you believably charge 12$ for a one-gallon Tropicana OJ, pulp, no pulp, or drowning in pulp? When I saw the price, and note that this was on a late night (a big plus for you to be open 24 hours, which softens the blow), I figured, well -- no one else is open, let's get it. You see, I figured, this must be a special type of Tropicana OJ. I applied it on my skin to see if it rejuvenated me. Nope. Citric acid removes some skin roughness in the elbows -- not this one. I even attempted to see if applying a smidgen of a 12$ gallon of Tropicana to a glass of vodka and bitters would somehow make the taste go pop! with a zing!, but nope. City Market, I was let down. I was left abandoned, betrayed, and reenacted "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" which burned my newly renovated engineered hardwood floor and left a mark, like Cain, glaring at me, telling me, "You should have gone to Trader Joes!"And it's not just the Tropicana OJ. Even the Glad Tupperware was overpriced. Honeycrisp apples for 3.49 each? Did I hallucinate that? I hope I did. Normally I would get about 10 at any other location, but this time, I had to tearfully settle for a mere three and sob my way to the cashiers. Still, all is not lost. What it lacks in pricing (and note, not all of their prices are in the clouds), it does bowl me over with its ambiance. I have yet to try their buffet and eatery, which everyone has told me is "da bomb." [Of course, I shall be the authority on that once I apply tastebuds to food.] It looks pretty upscale and nifty (if a little tight in size), staff is beyond friendly, and the overall experience plus its "always open" availability is a major plus. I don't yet know if it delivers; the site states that one can place an order online, so that remains to be seen. I will be returning, of course, but only to procure items that are priced evenly with other locations. And my wrinkles have not gone yet, so that 12$ Tropicana and I have since parted ways (Its plastic carcass is on its way to a recycling plant and I, well... remain disappointed).

Amazing supermarket always find what I need and their produce is fresh the workers friendly. I had a minor complaint and the manager took it seriously. Great team especially the young Indian girl forgive me if your not but she is sweet professional and puts the cold cuts so neatly stack and always washes her hands and constantly changes her gloves kudos to the deli team. I enjoy shopping their every time

Price gouging during a pandemic. Ridiculous! Their ridge is over priced. $7.00 for ice cream lol they are ripping people off. Almost $2.00 for a small pepper.

I rate this 5 stars based on specialty shopping, not your every day canned good, cleaning supply etc. However, they have produce items not easily found in the big grocery stores in the area. The butcher is always ready and willing to pick out the meat selection and even recommend a great way to prepare it. They are open 24 hours a day which is super helpful when your getting up to cook a huge holiday meal and realize you ran out of lemons or garlic etc. You can easily run over there and continue on with your hectic day without a snag. (believe me it has happened to me).

This is a great location if you're looking for certain fruits and veggies that acme and Shoprite won't have. So when you want to make a sancocho this location will definitely have all you need. It's not the biggest, there's a tiny private lot so if you see parking on the street I would definitely grab it. Walking in you come to a produce department when you can get your quenepas, sour oranges, yuca, plantains, pumpkin and a large variety of other things. The meat department is also a lot better than a lot of other local places. Whenever I can I make my way here for the meat whether it's chicharron, longaniza or just a whole chicken. The meat here is definitely better quality. On the down side if you need regular ingredients or simple things like a cake pan, you will not find it here. It's very limited to what it carries so you will not be able to complete your grocery list here. There's a liquor store inside also. It's separated after you leave the check out area you will see it. Prices are pretty average to anywhere else. I enjoyed this place because it has certain things that I need, but for my regular weekly shopping I'll have to go somewhere else.

This supermarket is amazing. Their variety of hispanic products and fresh produce has to be the best one I've seen. It's very fresh in here so you won't be heated. They upgraded a lot and looks more modern than before

This location is very clean. They seem to be very clean. The prices are a little pricey. Although the place is nice the employees are slow. I was on line for 10 minutes and there was only one person in front of me with very little food items.

This supermarket is the amazing reincarnation of the former Mi Bandera. Same location. But this is a totally new store. Everything is new! Today's store seems very up-scale with special attention given to appearances. It has the newest in lighting and store fixtures. Store personnel continually are on the job, bringing items to the front of the shelves and neatly organizing displays of fruits and vegetables. The specialty of the store is Latin American food products, and like the former Mi Bandera, the aisles are conveniently identified by the national flag of the foods' origin. The market offers a deli, hot foods for take out, bakery, butcher and fish store. Noted: a bigger choice of dried beans that you would have imagined possible! You'll find most everything you need to cook Latin style. This store is a startling upgrade from the market I once knew. I'm glad to have it in my shopping neighborhood. 2/17/2017 Update: Improvement in the meat market. Very good selection of packaged meats (cut in the store). Some are cuts that I have not seen available before. Looks good.

We have purchased many items here before. We stay away from the butcher shop. We purchase boxed and canned goods as well as frozen items particular to my families origin. This place is NOT CLOSED! Please have someone remove the "closed" banner.

This is place is dirty and smells bad. I've seen birds flying around; great, bird poop on the fruit. What really gets me is the bag check-in. Last time I tried to go in, they wanted me to check a small tied shopping bag I had. I refused and they wouldn't let me in. It is ILLEGAL! No store can make you turn in your shopping bags. They will be held liable if anything in the bags is lost, stolen or damaged. You can rest assured that I will never set foot and that stanky dark place again!

MBS serves it's purpose well: Latin American-oriented supermarket items reasonably priced. Some specialty items are quite pricey but this is, at least to a significant degree, to be expected. Good prices on vegetables and fruit and the country sections make it easy to explore regional tastes. Since I'm cooking various country dishes, MBS comes in very handy for me. Be careful if you don't want MSG and other such additives in your food: many imported items in glass jars and cans contain such, as many Latin American food processors are a little behind on current health-conscious food processing.

Very rude at enterance to have bags checked at the front. I was stopped by two people to have my daughter's backpack held at the front while I shopped. I left and will never go there again. they have security cameras for that, they do not need to hold my daughters personal belongings.
