“Great place to stay! The staff was actually really friendly and the rooms were not bad at all. The only thing was our room didn’t have a fridge or microwave, but if available, you can request a fridge. But the rooms were cool, there was no issue with the elevators and it’s quiet! Getting into Manhattan is simple and quick enough with the ferry, the only downside is it stops at 9pm. So if you’re out past 9, rideshare may be the best bet.”

“I took my son and 5 of his friends here for his birthday. We had such a great experience. Dave was amazing. He was very patient with them and explained how to throw while always making sure they were safe. There was also a dart board and large connect 4 game so the kids weren't bored while they were waiting to take turns. They also had virtual games that can be displayed on the target area, like tic tac toe & battle ship, so the kids weren't just throwing at the same target the whole time. I booked the party for two hours and was a little worried at first that it wouldn't hold their attention for that long, but they loved it and wanted to stay even longer. This was one of the best parties I had for my son and I can't wait to go back!”

“Had my birthday party here and all 14 of us had a great time! Cute candle studio with plenty of natural light and friendly staff.

The process and facilitation went seamlessly. It helped that the dozens of scent options were already blends themselves (rather than doing a million stiff tests of raw fragrances), so we really just had to pick the 1-2 scents we liked most, and then adjusted the ratios to our liking. Their dried flowers and glitter were a nice touch, and I brought some sea glass and other small stones for additional embellishment.

Start to finish was a little over an hour. It took about 20 minutes to prepare the actual candle, 10-15 to set enough for decorating, then another 10-15 for setting to bring home. They packed up our candles neatly and we were on our way.

“We had a wonderful time exploring the museum on a Tuesday afternoon when the crowds were light and we could really take our time with the exhibits. My husband is especially into vintage transportation and spent nearly two hours studying the old subway cars. The gift shop prices were a bit steep for what you get, but overall it was educational and nostalgic. Definitely worth a visit if you're interested in NYC history.”

“Went to see a show, st george theatre is truly such a beautiful, historical gem, while it could definitely use some renovations, the seating is super old, could use wider seating, more handicap seating, elevators, hot food stations, however the prices are reasonable, especially if your looking for somewhere local to go on a date night”

“Go see Rocky horror picture show. This is such a weird show that celebrates weirdness. don’t dream it be it. “Our event was overall great, because we figured out how to deal with the issues with the space.
The security at the front was almost non-existent but we had people pushed upstairs quickly. The elevators were extremely slow but we figured out what to do by having staff in the elevator to entertain guests. The food was good and the place was packed so we didn't see the stains in the furniture. As nice as the bathrooms are they are still small.”

“I literally just celebrated my 60th Birthday yesterday on October 10th! Halo Lounge is truly the place to rent for your next event! Sal is the consummate professional! We met in July and everything that he promised back then, he delivered last night! He called me this morning to follow up and make sure that I was satisfied with their venue and service! His pricing was truly exceptional! I was not expecting to use his catering services but boy am I glad I did! The food was delicious and plentiful! His staff were so helpful and very kind! “My daughter got married last month at Sound River Studios. It was a 160 person wedding, and we liked the fact that it was spacious enough to have an indoor ceremony if the weather didn't cooperate. But it did! Even as long-time New Yorkers, we were captivated by the river and Manhattan views as it went from sunlight to dusk to night. And the many guests from Chicago and Michigan were charmed as well. It is truly a magical and romantic venue for a wedding. In contrast, the surrounding neighborhood is wonderfully gritty and urban; and we loved that too. It made for dramatic and unusual New York City photographs by Bin at B.Legend.

The space is enormous and empty, so be prepared to bring in all of the furniture and tableware, unlike in a hotel or catering hall. The bridal couple wanted a minimalist look, but it still took a lot of Edison bulbs, florals, and lanterns to decorate the space. One other note is that the acoustics can be challenging since there is nothing to absorb the sound. Be sure to test your equipment for ceremony and speeches. Our guests were on the younger side (late 20s), so the music was loud and hard to hold a conversation - but that's something you could control. It is completely wheelchair accessible.

Una is a pro. She is straight-forward, direct, and no nonsense, which we appreciated. She met us 4 (?) different times to walk through the space as the groom's parents were from out of town, and we'd changed planners midstream. The contracts and bar packages were clear. Between Una and our planner Dave from Events by Jesse, the party ran without any issues so we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

Pro-tip: We rented the two penthouse rooms at the Aloft Hotel. It has a rooftop terrace that's open to the public but scarcely used. We hung out there after the welcome reception Friday and until the wee hours after the wedding on Saturday. Much more relaxed than a bar. It was easy to run the shuttles to and from Sound River Studios, which is only about a mile away.”

“We just had my daughter’s Bat Mitzvah at Rain and honestly couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out. Scott and Miriam were incredible from start to finish. They were extremely helpful and responsive during the planning process and were there the entire night making sure everything ran smoothly. You can really tell how much they care.

The space itself is perfect for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah or any event really. The atmosphere is fun and modern, and the layout worked really well for both the kids and adults. The entertainment was absolutely amazing and everyone had such a great time. The extras like the photo booth, popcorn and cotton candy machines, air hockey, foosball, etc. really added to the party and gave it an extra kick.

We were also able to open up the outdoor space for dinner since the weather was beautiful, and that ended up being such a huge plus. Overall, Rain made the whole night special and easy, and we got so many compliments from our guests afterward. Will be doing more events there in the future. Highly recommend.”

“If you enjoy live performances, this is definitely a venue worth visiting. The combination of its historic character and modern sound and lighting systems creates a fantastic atmosphere. The seating was comfortable, and the sightlines were excellent, making it easy to enjoy the performance from where I was sitting. Everything throughout the event was well organized and professionally managed. It quickly became one of my favourite concert venues, and I'd be happy to come back for another show.”

I was walking around the upper east side recently and passed by the Lotos Club building on east 66th street between 5th and Madison.
Founded in 1870, it is one of the oldest literary clubs in the US. The building was built in 1900 and the club move here in 1947.
The is a great old building located on a wonderful street. Of note is that General U S Grant lived on this street in the 1880s.”
