The Northeast Gate Balloon Fiesta is the entrance to the world-famous New Mexico Hot Air Balloon Festival, a must-see bucket list experience held each fall. The event features the spectacular sight of hundreds of colorful hot air balloons, with approximately 500 to 800 ascending into the sky, creating a shocking and amazing spectacle. Visitors can get very close to the balloons, watch them inflate, and even talk with the balloonists.
The fiesta grounds are huge, offering lots of activities for all ages in a family-friendly atmosphere. There are numerous vendor booths selling official merchandise and souvenirs, alongside countless food stands offering fair food like burritos, churros, and funnel cakes. The park provides plenty of bathrooms, including accessible options. Parking is available on-site for a fee, and a convenient Park & Ride shuttle service from locations like Cottonwood Mall helps cut down on traffic, which can otherwise be very heavy. Attendees should be prepared for large crowds, an open field with little shade, and cold morning temperatures, recommending jackets, sunscreen, and water.
The day is broken into morning and night events. The morning starts very early with a drone show and the dawn patrol, where the first balloons launch. The night event features balloons lighting up with torch burns for great photo opportunities, followed by an aerial show and fireworks. It is a well-oiled machine, chaotic but happy, and is recommended as a truly amazing time worth experiencing at least once.
Handicap parking for my momma was very accessible. Thank you

The event is 100% worth while. They have done a great job getting people in and out of the area.

Glad I attended. Wonderful experience. Pictures don't do the experience justice. Being on the field to experience the magic of ballooning was the great takeaway.
