Great campground for RV or tent camping. I went here in October with my family for a weekend camping trip. Online we were only able to reserve a developed spot with electricity and water hookups for an RV for $14 per night, but on-site you can get a tent site for less. The temperature was great, there was free firewood and fire pits, and the bathrooms were positively luxurious (heated, flush toilets, and showers). We went on a short walk with the kids and found a playground with lots of goat heads and other thistles and briars that they named pokey-park.The river was fun to walk around, play in the mud, and dig for freshwater clams. There was some sort of crane migration going on so hundreds of large cranes were constantly flying overhead in huge V-formations.I will definitely be coming back next year.Playground: There is a playground for kids on the tent camping side of the park. The structures are good, but there are a lot of thorns and thistles that reduced the amount of fun the kids had.Restrooms: There are a few hole in the ground style restrooms on the tent side, but near the entrance there are two fancy restrooms that have heaters, warm water, flush toilets, and even showers.Dog-friendliness: Lots of people brought dogs and a few people brought cats.Picnic area: Each campsite on the RV side has a picnic table, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. The tent side has fewer amenities, but the grass would be great to lay a blanket on.

This is one of my all time favorite places to be near Las Cruces.

Pros: Quiet. Close to water. Nice grassy area. Bathhouse cleaned regularly.Cons: unless you are good at parallel parking your rig this is not a good place to stay. All sites are somewhat crammed together and can be hard to get your RV in/out of your site if it’s larger. 35 ft+. You are essentially staying in one large loop with all the rigs parked in a single file format. Almost zero privacy. Lots of landscaping and repair maintenance needs to be done around the sites. Weeds and goat heads. Broken walls around the Ramada’s. Lots of ants and spiders that want to call your RV home.

Very nice place. We're from Pennsylvania. Be mindful this is rattlesnake country. I'm very cautious but my son and wife not so much. We're heading to the stream back to check things out. I'm twenty feet from them and I calmly say there's a rattlesnake just as their stepping over it lol they thought I was joking until they looked back and it slithered away in the bushes.

When the water is running, the dam releasing water, this park is where you see it. In the colder months, you can walk the dry riverbed. The upper area is all rv campsites here, i.e. electrical with water. Tents can be put in most of these spaces, however. Down towards the dam are quite a few tent sites. Outhouses for the tent campsites, bath house in the rv area with showers. No dump station. The closest is a couple of miles up the highway at Caballo Lake State Park.Restrooms: Bath house in the rv area with showers

I absolutely loved it here. It was beautiful, peaceful, cool and enjoyable to be. We found a spot right by the river and even though the current was too strong for our children, the are spots found that had bushes that were sectioning off a small area that was suitable to swim in, right in front of our tent spot, which was right by the riverThere was a big picnic table and 2 grills, the restrooms are close by and easily accessible. The showers are clean and in a bigger building in the center of the camp ground. The shower water was perfectly hot and is a push start type of deal. There was no loud music from neighbors it was really quiet and peaceful. It did have a thunder and rain storm while we were there but it was a fun adventure and although it was wet it was cold or anything like that.I liked it so much I want to come back as soon as I can.My new favorite spot

Reserved sites are a little close but not too bad. Only one stall in the men's bathroom so you have to wait sometimes. Non-electric sites by the river are nice. Tons of goatheads, even some on the roads when the wind blows.

Dog feces all through the site I booked. Park host no where to be seen. Need to hire a caretaker to manage the grounds and clean sites. Sites are small and hard to park in for anyone with overall length of 40 foot. Cheap rates, no tv stations available by antenna, cell service is poor. Booked for a week but leaving after 4 days.

Peaceful, after a extremely long and horrible road in. Pot holes deep enough to ruin suspension Lots of birds to watch. Not enough water to fish either. Park was fairly full.

Really nice park tons of bird species. And one the the largest trees I've ever seen comparable to a California redwood In girth. Tucked away next to some gorgeous hatch chili patches. Very very beautiful.

Really cool when the river is full and the water is flowing over the dam but not great when the river is low.

This camp ground was a nice place to stay. The area was pretty. Our site was clean and close to the bathrooms. The shower was nice and hot. The restrooms were clean. The gentleman managing the place was nice and helpful. He suggested some places to go see while we are in the area. Our table had a solid cover over it which was nice. There is a creek that runs through here but it was dry.It was nice and quiet. We would stay here again.
