“If you live in Ruidoso, you already know how important it is to have a dependable, locally owned hardware store you can count on — and for me, that place is True Value Ruidoso.
As a local Realtor, I’m constantly running in for the little things that make a big difference when preparing a home for sale. Whether I need extra keys made for a new listing, small hardware pieces for signage, fasteners for lockboxes, tools for quick fixes, or even last-minute supplies before a showing — True Value Ruidoso hardware store always has exactly what I need.
What I love most is the local service and local market knowledge. The team here understands what homes in Ruidoso and Alto need because they live here too. They know the mountain climate, they know the cabins, they know the vacation homes, and they know the everyday homeowner projects that come up in our community. That kind of local expertise matters.
When I’m helping clients buy or sell in the Ruidoso real estate market, details matter. A properly hung sign. A smoothly working lock. Fresh hardware. Secure key copies. Having a reliable hardware store right here in town helps me serve my buyers and sellers at a higher level.
Beyond the inventory — which is excellent — the customer service is what keeps me coming back. They’re friendly, helpful, and genuinely care. It feels like walking into a neighbor’s shop, not a big box store. They answer questions, help you find what you need, and make sure you leave confident in your purchase.
If you’re a homeowner, investor, cabin owner, or even another local business owner, True Value Ruidoso is a must-visit hardware store. From tools and keys to small hardware and home maintenance supplies, they truly are a value to our community.
We’re fortunate to have businesses like this supporting Ruidoso. I’ll continue to recommend them to my real estate clients, friends, and anyone buying or selling property in our area.
Shop local. Support local. And if you see me in there grabbing keys or hardware for my next listing — say hello.”
“It's a really friendly and fun place generally speaking. It seemed like lots of customers were willing to talk to each other about information they needed. More so than a lot of the big box hardware stores and even other Ace hardware stores. Not sure if it was being in Ruidoso with a smaller local population or what. Prices were outrageous for small individual bolts and such. That likely will change with the new tractor supply on the outside of town. They've got a lot of advertising that makes it sound like a super friendly place. It was that. I do feel like knowledge set on what they have was somewhat limited, and despite the fair number of staff they have they weren't overly generous in offering their support. Dinged them a little bit for that but overall they have a good selection of different things. I didn't look at those prices but...... I would give a 3.5 Stars if I could. But I'm a captive audience until tractor supply gets set up. They are head and shoulders above Foxworth Galbraith -”
