“Discovered this santa fe gem earlier today, and spent, easily, a couple of hours browsing and discovering so many beautiful pieces and finds. The shop is packed with treasures, and so well-organized and well cared for. And, then there’s the owner Ursula, who’s a delight to chat with, and a wealth of expertise on vintage and antiques. We spent another hour visiting with her! If you’re visiting santa fe, or a local, be sure not to miss this place.”

“We had a wonderful experience visiting the James Compton Gallery in Burro Alley of Santa Fe. The selection of objects is superb and very carefully displayed. The owner takes great efforts to convey the meaning and representation of the various artifacts to any interested party. One can sense that he cares greatly about the objects and that they end up with the right party that share his sentiments.”

I am so appreciative of the extra mile they took to make this customer VERY HAPPY!!Thanks again, Finer Things!!”

“WoWzer!!!! What a selection of interesting items. From home decor and furniture to garden and patio needs. The selection of items was certainly NOT your furniture box store items. Store staff was available for questions and did not follow you around the property which I appreciated.”

“For anyone tired of the overpriced, tourist-traptastic junk they sell in most of the stores in the city center-this ain't it-this is the real deal. When pricing, quality, and variety all intersect in the world of vintage, you end up with an extraordinary experience. The only potential drawback is you are going to need multiple trips because it's all very overwhelming in the most wonderful way.”

“This is the largest rug/antique dealer in Santa Fe, with marvelous collectibles and period pieces occupying nearly a full city block, situated about a block from the "main drag". The afternoon I spent browsing here was far from enough time to satisfy my curiosity, and was an adventure, with unique and rare items wherever I looked. Truly, this is not to be missed!”

“I have been a customer of this wonderful antiquarian bookstore for over twenty years. Each visit always includes at least one pleasant surprise, and sometimes more, as Andre Dumont, the proprietor, knows his customer base well and is always on the lookout for unique and rare titles to add to the budding collections of his customers. Andre has helped me build an impressive collection of Wagner-Camp and small regional, southwestern press material. He is always inviting and jovial and willingly shares his encyclopedic knowledge of Western Americana. I eagerly await the arrival of his catalogues and usually plan my visits to Santa Fe around a trip to his establishment, leaving plenty of time to wander through his stacks and chat. It is a rare pleasure to be able to visit with Carol, his wife and collaborator, when she is in the store in a rare respite from her demanding real estate sales schedule. I highly recommend a visit to this establishment, you will not be disappointed.”

“The Native American art collection in the gallery is beautiful, diverse and thought provoking . A collection of antique clothing, pottery, jewelry and contemporary that is extraordinary and it's complimented by a gallery manager who is welcoming and do very well informed and the gallery staff. Spending as much time to learn and ask about you as they are willing to share as much about their art collection all the while treating you as if you were their one of their most cherished and long time clients. Even if you're not an art aficionado and this is new to you, this is a must see when you visit Santa Fe.”
