Associate Sarah was super nice and helpful. Took her time and was patient with me as we both searched for what I was looking for. Unfortunately we couldn’t find it, due to someone purchasing all of them online. Overall, thought it was a good visit, regardless of not finding what I wanted. :)

This REI is why brick and mortar stores are dying. Went there to buy an electric bike today. The saleswoman Lisa was friendly enough at the start. She unlocked the bike to let me sit on it. I straddled the bike and got comfortable with both feet planted firmly on either side and told her, "I'm good you can let go now." Despite this, she continued to grip both sides of the handlebars as if her life depended on it. Seriously, her knuckles were white as chalk. I thought maybe because I'm Latina? She stood squarely in front of me, her eyes boring down at me. After a couple of seconds of uncomfortable silence, she said, "You can take it out for a drive if you want." I was so anxious at that point that I rejoined, "Will you be holding on to it outside too?" Okay, that was sarcasm on my part and I own that. I simply wanted her to give me a bit of space because she was making me so uncomfortable. After I made that comment she told me it was policy to hold the bikes while customers are trying them. I told her that it was okay, but could she just step back a little bit. Instead of showing understanding, she accused me of being "aggressive." I understand a company having a safety policy, but is there no room for personal space or customer anxiety? Being called aggressive for voicing my discomfort felt like insult onto injury. I did not raise my voice or do anything remotely aggressive. Unless sarcasm is now considered aggression--possible, but that's a whole other discussion.I spoke to Carl the manager, he was compassionate but suggested I ride the bike next week when the store wasn't so busy (Labor day weekend and all). I wanted to purchase the bike today. But it's fine, I can find plenty of places that orient themselves to their customer. In my case this REI in Santa Fe just isn't one of them.

As soon as they new I was a non-member, customer service was horrible. I just move in to Santa Fe and I am trying to look for new things to do like hiking, so I gave this store a try to look for things that would help me start this adventure, but they treat me differently as soon as I said I was not a member. I do not recommend this store at all.

As a bike shop employee myself, I can not in good faith recommend this places bike shop. I was visiting Santa Fe from out of town, so I borrowed a friends mountain bike. The brakes needed a lever bleed (a two minute job). Brought it here because it was the only place open at the hour. Two people were sitting behind the bike shop desk, neither of them doing any work. I told them I needed a lever bleed and one of them seemed like they didn’t even know what I was talking about. The other said it would be a few days. Again, neither of them were working on bikes despite wearing mechanic shop aprons. This is a quick, on the spot job that should be able to be done if they are not doing anything at the moment. Heck, I could’ve done it right there and then if I had access to the tools. Frustrated because I did not have multiple days to wait, I asked if they sold brake bleed kits. The employee that didn’t even know what a brake bleed was “looked up” if they sold them on her phone. After mysteriously scrolling for thirty seconds, she told me they don’t even stock them.So apparently, this place not only doesn’t stock pretty common bike repair items, but they don’t even know basic bike maintenance . Cool. Ended up finding a friend of a friend that had the tools at his house and did it myself in five minutes.

Not one of my favorite REI locations, yet, that said, staff since day one to present are consistently excellent, engaging, genuinely helpful, knowledgeable. This location is well staffed, which I cannot say about certain other REI locations. My primary criticism is concerning parking. Arriving at a retail and restaurant district and needing to PAY for parking is certainly a slap in the face. This is thankfully not NYC, so why are we paying for parking when New Mexico does not even own the parking meters, which by the way, often are not functional! In that case, While I’m attempting to enjoy my shopping and dining experience, it’s rushed, as I don’t want to return to a parking ticket for a space I was unable to pay for due to some Russian corporation’s negligence.Santa Fe can do better than this.

Love love love this REI! Very helpful and friendly staff, I was able to kit myself and my partner out for a big road trip which involved about a week of camping and we had fantastic gear for our trip. Shoutout especially to Darren who was super helpful on the tent front (the NEMO Dagger was the right call) and fitted myself and my partner for backpacks - you're brilliant!

While this location is spacious and well-organized, I think I prefer the Albuquerque location. The clearance discounts seem better.Everything is indeed very expensive, but the membership is a one-time fee that does return 10% of everything you buy as a coupon the following year (this includes clearance items, which are only available via membership only).

Super unprofessional. Went in for repairs. Equipment came back missing it's functional design. God, if only we could hire actual professionals.

Quick and easy. Limited selections compared to bigger stores but still very well equipped, I was just looking for running shorts and comfy athletic pants and found what I needed.

The staff is super helpful, the store is well stocked, and being a member of the co-op gives you some great benefits.

Great store. I’ve been a member for a very long time. It’s a little pricy but quality is a must. Buy one once and return it if it breaks. Other warranties and bonuses apply to some of their items such as Patagonias replace or repair policy. Very nice

REI has become Abacrombie & Fitch 2.0. I just came in to buy a coat. Four different sales associates asked me if I was a member before asking if I needed help. The hard sell for membership continued at the register. Such hard sell tactics are designed to make one feel lesser. REI has some great merchandise but damn, maybe limit the membership push to just the register. That or make the whole thing members only like Costco.
