Book Stores in Silver City, NM

“While visiting Silver City and the surrounding attractions we always like to spend a day strolling through the downtown area. We came in to SWAG with our 4 young kids and everyone really enjoyed the store. They had an extensive collection of Science Fiction that was well organized and a whole room of really well organized children's books that the kids adored.

The store does have a live in store mascot in the form of a cat named Pudge, and my kids were initially afraid of Pudge as he is a very playful cat and once the employees saw that my kids were getting distressed, Pudge was placed behind the counter/glass case so that my littlest kids could still see and interact with pudge but they couldn't touch each other. My older kids searched through the store's bulk pokemon cards for probably 20 minutes while the littlest ones were just talking to and about Pudge.

Everyone in the store was really friendly and welcoming and this place is everything I love in a local bookstore.”

“Wonderful little thrift store with lots to see. They even sell local farm fresh eggs USUALLY & while supplies last! The staff is really friendly.If you’re visiting from outta town & miss your feline friend back home Elvis their gray kitty ?‍⬛ is a sweetheart & absolutely loves gentle affection! All proceeds go to help youth in the community so no guilt about shopping here!?”

“Popped in to browse the books, ended up staying for a while chatting with Dennis. Great collection of books, especially if you’re interested in New Mexico/western US history. I left with 3 books. But the best part was meeting and visiting with Dennis. What a delight it was for my husband and I. He’s full of knowledge, local history, and other stories. Overall really great guy! We’ll definitely be sure to stop by again next time we’re in Silver City!”
