Pet Grooming

Avalyn's Paw Spa
1036 Reed Street Suite B, TaosI am forever grateful for Cyril!! She is always so gentle and patient with my miniature schnauzer puppy. It's easy to see how much she genuinely cares about dogs and doing right by them. This is my first venture in having a dog and Cyril took her time explaining to me her process for easing puppies into grooming. We have since progressed to trimming and she did a beautiful groom to our specifications!

Tidwell Jeff DVM
41 NM-522, TaosTed Schubach has been my vet for over 40 years. He is awesome and always has been there for our many pets over the years. The pandemic has changed the face of veterinary care in Taos. Many people moved to Taos with pets, overloading the already busy clinics in town. We only have 2 vet clinics for all of Taos County. Last year we had a dog emergency and rushed to Taos Vet only to find they were closed for lunch! So we rushed to Salazar Vet and received care only to return to Taos Vet after the crisis had subsided. When Dr Schubach was not overwhelmed by the shear need in Taos...he would make house calls to care for dying pets. In the last year we needed our elder chihuahua put down and he graciously came out to our car to euthanize our Venny in our arms. These are not cold heartless people...they are overworked and overwhelmed. They have compassion and heart and I am sorry that anyone may feel different. They can only see so many patients in a day. They only have 2 doctors. People have forgotten what Covid did to our healthcare system.

Taos Veterinary Clinic PC
41 NM-522, TaosMy dogs love everyone here and want to stay and go into the back. They are always extremely accommodating about squeezing us in when we need to be seen, which is often, and usually last minute as Georgie is medically needy.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

Aji
309 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, TaosNice authentic restaurant with fantastic menu. Everything from appetizers to desserts was perfectly done. We tried ceviche for appetizer, both Street ceviche and Nikkei were the best we ever tried. Lamb (Cordero) was done to perfection with a nice taste of Peruvian light spices. Passion Fruit cheesecake was like a cloud, light, very nicely balanced . Highly recommended. Service is great. You will remember this dinner.

The Espresso Bar @ Taos Valley Lodge
615 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, TaosKindest, most charming bartender we found. Firstly, the double white beer was fantastic - bright and rich. Secondly, we came in at the end of the night a few minutes before closing, and he was happy to have us, then insisted we try some of the Indian food leftover from catering. It was fantastic. He offered to let us change the channel on the TV, mentioned how he loves company. Give this man your business!

Aly's à la Cart
625 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, TaosWe stopped at Aly’s a few days ago for lunch and were very pleased with the meals and the speedy service.
We specifically decided to visit this restaurant based on reviews of their vegan options and they do indeed offer a few items that are fully vegan. We got the tofu based vegan burrito and black bean burger, both of which were very flavorful and hearty. The burrito is so large, I got a second meal out of it :)
If you’re in a rush they even offer a drive through service which is pretty convenient. Although we enjoyed dining in and the staff were helpful to take our order.

Mary Janes Home Cooking
616 C Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, TaosFrito pie green chile is fantastic. I also had a combination plate, way too much food. I tried everything that I had made, everything was very tasty. Chicken tacos hard shell, wonderful, tamale fantastic, enchilada very delicious, I ordered to much. Outside seating was shaded and very clean. The green chile Frito pie was the hit for me though. Definitely worth the walk or drive.

Taos Taproom
201 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, TaosExceptional Pizza. I grew up in New Jersey 10 mins from DeLucia’s Brick Oven Pizza in Raritan. My high school was near Conte’s in Princeton. I lived in Philly for a decade. Angelos was my spot. All three are in the Barstool top 10. This pizza is in the conversation.

Antonio's The Taste of Mexico
Next to Ace Hardware southside, 1379 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, TaosThe employee who rang up our bill overstepped. She added a $29.99 tip on her own. She asked me to sign the receipt, and I didn’t notice the tip section. Before I could ask about it, she clicked “Save.” She said she would come back with a copy, but we only found out the tip amount because we went back and asked. We were planning to leave an 18% tip, but it was upsetting that she decided the tip amount herself.
She also decided my wife wouldn’t be able to handle pico de gallo and removed it from the meal without asking. I asked if they had a caffeine-free Coke, and she responded to another employee, “Of course it has caffeine,” but the way she said it felt condescending—both to me and to the other employee. When my sister asked for the restroom, the employee gave her a look that felt judgmental, to say the least.
However, this was my personal experience and may not be yours, so please don’t base your decision only on my review. The food was very enjoyable, and that’s why I went there.
