I had reserved a small car and the only thing available in Albany was a large pickup truck. A gas guzzler. I will have had the truck 9 days and have avoided using it because it's hard for me to drive and cost a ton in gas. I had the same experience with avis's sister company in Newark a few months ago. There I waited on line for at least 2 hours to find they had only an electric car. Tremendously inconvenient because I was going to be in the country with very few charging stations.

This location is a nightmare. Twice I’ve had crazy receipts that I had to call in about. Charging me for insane mileage that just wasn’t driven or the wrong car class. I’m so frustrated. The last thing you want to deal with.

I entered all my information when I made the reservation. I get to the line, it says to enter my information into the app or website via QA code. I have to enter everything in again. Then I go to counter to get my car and I have to do it all over again. Why do I have to do this 3 times. It took 40 mins to get a vehicle. Other places, I go straight to the car and drive. None of this hassle. Then when I was at the counter, I was asked for a 2nd ID, what for ! No one else ask for that. You already ran my driver's license. Will never use Avis again.

Check your final bill before agreeing to all charges. Avis charged me for fuel even though I returned the car with a full tank. I had to call them to get my money refunded. Be sure to not let them overcharge you. If hadn't have been for them overcharging me, I'd give them 5 stars but they knew the gas tank was full and charged me anyway. That's not an ethical way to run a business.

Do not do business with Avis Rental. They hold your bloated "deposit" for weeks, not allowing you to have access to your own money. I've called their "service" reps 3 times to no avail. Know that the actual cost of the rental was taken out of my account right away upon return of the vehicle, and the deposit, which was 2 times larger than the actual cost of the rental itself, remains in their account. So I have no access to my own money. I was made aware that they will be holding it for up to "another 2 weeks." I am contacting the NYS Attorney General to get my "deposit" back today, as this is a breach of the contract and is fraud.

Car was fine but reeked of weed. Had to exchange after 2 hours because I couldn't stand it. Next car I received was a lower standard than original. A few days later the tire was flat and I happened to be right by the location so I just went straight there, I explained the situation and they asked what I was going to do.....?? I said I'd need to fix or a new car, they changed it but tried to charge me for returning without full gas!

While the staff persons I dealt with were lovely, and the car was clean and safe, I am dismayed with the price to rent with your company. I have a Union discount as well as a Member/Wizard #.. but I honestly don't know what it's good for. I do not see any benefit. I rent cars on average 5- 6X/year (next time will be in March 2024) so I dont understand why I'm not being treated like a loyal customer by getting a deal for being a Member (w/Wizard#). I'm going to shop around next time bc $600 for a week long car rental (& I chose 'economy'!) is outrageous. If tolls and gas were included, I'd get it, but no... $600 is way too much.

Rented a car over the weekend from Albany Airport AVIS on the morn of 12/16 and dropped off the car in the early morn of 12/17 because my flt out of Albany was 7am. When I was checking out the car at the office on the 16th, I made sure that I can drop off the car early morn before their office start hrs (8:00am) and also made sure where to drop off the car key and they told me I can drop off the car and leave the key in the dropbox on the side of their little box office in the garage. Now I’m getting an email that the car was never returned and asking me to return the car while I’m sitting all the way across the continent on the west coast of lower US. How freaking ridiculous and laughable is this situation AVIS???!!!! I’m seeing nothing but negative reviews from this rental location at Albany Airport in NY. I rented the car with my company discount program and if you f-this up, I will def’ly make sure my company take it to the court and make sure you correct this plus any punitive action as necessary.Get on this and correct your wrong doings immediately….!!!!I would also recommend you review and revoke this location’s franchise ownership for their continued mishaps and abuse of their ignorance.
