“a 24/7 candy store in astoria on broadway whre you can grab a soda , snack , newspaper, cigs, lottery , etc. i usually stop here to grab some lottery tiks and a cold drink after visiting my cuz who dwells in the area . the place looks old and worn but thats what makes this place unique. the guy behind the counter is friendly and i have been lucky most of the time getting scratch off tickets. good place for the locals and non locals to grab something quick.”

“I was looking for a place near me that sold blue velvet cupcakes so I went to Google and stumbled upon this bakery. I didn't call, I just drove over because it's about a 10 minute drive from my house. They didn't have any blue velvet cupcakes, but I said let me just try one since I'm here......I got an apple cinnamon cupcake......let's just say by the time I pulled up in front of my house, there were 2 bites left.......LITERALLY! I will definitely be taking more 10 minute drives, starting tomorrow ??. You won't be disappointed, TRUST ME!”

“confection wonderland of the Lower East Side filled from floor to ceiling with so much candy. if you are looking for a particular candy from the present or your childhood…you will likely find it here or a substitute for said sweet. colorful, clean, brightly lit store with so much to see and eat. there are your typical candies packaged and priced; there is chocolate and other confections by the pound; and individual loose candy by the pound. love the fact that Economy Candy carries Tony’s Chocolonely which are quality ethically-made chocolate bars! there are also so many flavors of the loose candies to choose from to make your ultimate treat bag…make your Halloween trick-or-treat bag anytime of the year and you have to trick or treat! ha.”

“I am always skeptical of really beautiful desserts and just assume they will taste mediocre because so much thought is put into the way they look. As a pastry chef I’m super picky about the quality of chocolate and while I thought these trendy chocolates would make a great gift because the appearance and packaging is stunning, I did not have high hopes for flavor. Boy was I wrong!!! I was literally blown away by the explosion of flavor and texture you can only achieve when using super high quality ingredients. Little spheres of heaven!!!”

“Ray is an East Village celebrity. Originally from Iran, Ray jumped overboard a Navy ship to swim away to a new life in the United States. He started the shop in the 70s and has been around ever since. Even when Ray recently sustained an assault, he went right back to work. This institution offers various soft serve, fries, fried Oreos, hotdogs, chili dogs, egg creams, onion rings. Any number of fried foods one might eat after a drunken soirée. Someone commented on his Instagram page, “no one has seen me drunker than this man.” Most things are 7-10 dollars, though there are a few things that are more expensive, like 16 dollars or so. Pretty sure Ray is cash only. Ray still works the spot. He’s about to turn 91. If you want to see him, get on with it. New York changes all the time. One day you might show up, and Ray will be gone. Don’t miss your chance to experience this icon.”

“There is something adorable about a shop that specializes in incongruous antiques such as vintage smoking items, lighters, and ashtrays as well as vintage games and candy.Named after the owner's dog this little shop is mighty. You may not realize what you need from this shop but if not a Dunhill lighter perhaps the Mad Magazine board game? Perhaps just a snack of some vintage candy and a Bazooka gum-flavored soda. You won’t know until less you go. So just walk in, this shop doesn’t disappoint”

“Went in for some chocolate strawberries as a treat this valentine’s day. The girls are so sweet and helpful. Amazing customer service. Even with a long line it didn’t take too long for it to get moving! The girls said it would be a wait for the berries and it take way less time than anticipated. So glad i came here & will definitely be coming back. Delicious berries and kind staff 10/10”
